India pacer Ishant Sharma is likely to play in the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval on Friday. Ishant had picked up an ankle injury and was ruled out hours before the beginning of the third Test at Southampton.

Ishant was seen bowling at full throttle in the practice session at The Oval. Ishant’s return will bolster the Indian pace attack. Ishant played a key role in the historic victory at Lord’s picking seven wickets for 74 helping India win at the venue for only the second time.

Since then, India have lost two more Tests by huge margins and the pace attack has looked largely inexperienced with Pankaj Singh, Varun Aaron and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

With Bhuvneshwar in good touch and Aaron putting impressive performance at Old Trafford, Ishant could replace Pankaj if he is declared fit for the final Test.
