India are all set to take on England in a series that will span across three months, from July 9-September 7, 2014. India are scheduled to play five Tests, five One-Day Internationals and a lone T20I in England. India have made some changes in their squad and one of the major news is the return of Gautam Gambhir. India have picked five pacers in their squad in Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Varun Aaron, Pankaj Singh and Ishant Sharma. Catch the news and articles of this tour here.
India announced the squad on May 28, 2014. The MS Dhoni-led side will be under pressure to deliver the results this time around after the last visit saw them whitewashed 4-0. For England though, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since they crushed India. They are without their old guard of Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott. Their form since the start of Ashes 2013-14 has been woeful.
India will be playing their first five-Test series in 12 years but Dhoni says his team is prepared. “For quite a few players it’s a first tour to England but have had exposure in South Africa and New Zealand and have a few games behind them. It’s good we are going early so that we can get into the groove. It’s a long series and not very usual to play 5-Test match series. Overall, it’s looking good. We have got enough time to prepare,” he said. Following is the detailed schedule of the series.
