Matt Prior had helped England start Day Three of the second Test against India at Lord’s in fine fashion. However, he was then dismissed as he tried to pull it and top-edged off Mohammed Shami and was taken. England resumed the day on 219 for six with Prior and Liam Plunkett remaining unbeaten from overnight. India had been bowled out for 295 the previous morning and England were led by Gary Ballance, who score his second Test ton.
Prior had been playing some confident strokes. When the ball has been full, he has driven it and also worked a few through the leg-side. It isn’t Prior alone, but even Plunkett has gone on to start well. He too has essayed a couple of good shots through the leg side.
It is important for India to pick up the wickets quickly, but they are known to concede too many runs to the tail. As things stand, England look good to take the lead, which isn’t that far away. They are 265 for seven now.
