Jasprit Bumrah will miss the limited-overs series against England due to a finger injury he sustained in the first T20I against Ireland on June 27. He injured his left thumb trying to take a return catch off the last ball of his last over during the match. However, he may be available for the ODI series. Bumrah was seen in the optional training session the next day but he did not train. He had to go for a scan in his hand.

While the detailed results of the scan are not yet known, Bumrah did miss the second T20I. He had completed his 4 overs in the first match and picked up 2 for 19.

Ever since Bumrah made his debut for India he is seen as India’s regular death-bowling specialist. When India played in England last time, during the Champions Trophy last year, Bumrah picked up 4 wickets in 5 matches but bowled very tightly — though his infamous no-ball in the final proved too costly. The other pace-bowling options India has are Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Siddarth Kaul, and Bumrah’s replacement Deepak Chahar.
