India were 214 for two at tea on the 0pening day of their three-day tour game against Leicestershire at Grace Road on Thursday. Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on , while vice-captain Virat Kohli was on not out. The two batsmen have added 49 runs for the third wicket.
Earlier in the match, Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir warmed up with fluent half-centuries as India gained command against the County side. Dhawan was hit on the hand and retired hurt on 55, while Gambhir went back to the pavillion at 50 not out.
For Leicestershire, Anthony Ireland claimed the only wicket that fell in the day, in form of Murali Vijay who was caught by Angus Robson. Earlier at lunch, Shikhar Dhawan smashed an unbeaten half-century as India reached 106 for one against Leicestershire. Dhawan cracked 11 fours to reach 55 not out off 86 balls, and accompanying him was Gautam Gambhir, batting on 21.
