New Zealand were 178 for two after 33.2 overs when rain stopped play in the second One-Day International at Hamilton. It is the second interruption so far with the first one being for a brief while after 17 overs.
Rain was expected to interrupt the play on Wednesday. The ground staff didn’t have much to do after the first interruption as it was a light drizzle and the outfield didn’t get wet.
However, this time around, the rain has got heavier and the ground staff had to cover the field with bigger covers.
Earlier, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor completed a fifty run-stand to consolidate New Zealand’s position in the match. Earlier, Williamson shared an 89-run stand with Martin Guptill before Guptill was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja for 44.
