Hosts India take on visitors New Zealand in a three-Test series in from September 22, 2016. The opening Test is scheduled to be held at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 22-26, followed by the second Test at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata from September 30-October 4, while the third and final Test would be held at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore from October 8-12. All the matches would be played at the day time, as the scheduled time of start of the match is 9.30 am (IST). The live telecast of the match would be available on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports HD1, along with Hindi commentary on Star sports 3 and Star Sports HD3, while the live streaming of the match would be available on starsports.com, and Hotstar.
The Indian cricket team will begin their big home season, which consists of 13 Tests, 8 ODIs and 3 T20Is, beginning late September, when they start by taking on Kane Williamson-led New Zealand. The three-Test series will mark the beginning of what has been named ‘India Cricket’ season by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Test series will be followed by a five-match One-Day International (ODI) series, scheduled to be played from October 16-29, 2016.

Following the end of the Test series, India will immediately switch to the limited-overs format, as they start the five-match ODI series with the first ODI scheduled to be played on October 16 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) in Dharamsala, followed by the second ODI on October 19 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
