India managed to pick another wicket to put New Zealand on the backfoot in the fifth One-Day International (ODI) at Wellington on Friday. Martin Guptill was dismissed for 16 by Varun Aaron. Guptill had got a reprieve earlier when Aaron floored a regulation catch at mid-wicket off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling.
It was a good length delivery on the middle and off, Guptill tried to loft it over the infield. He mistimed it and the ball lobbed up in the air and Shami at mid-on got under it and caught it. He fumbled once but somehow managed to keep it in his grip.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s in-form batsmen Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson are on the crease. Taylor settled in with some well-timed cover drives. Earlier, Jesse Ryder was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar. The pacers overall have looked impressive today.
