Nathan McCullum has been brought into the attack. Rohit gets a single on the second delivery and India have reached the 50-run mark. It has taken a long time coming. They would have expected to reach the mark earlier, especially after having elected to bat. Rayudu also takes a single off the over.

IND  49/2 | Overs 16 | Rohit 26*, Rayudu 16*

Neesham has been brought into the attack. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He bowls one quite straight and Rohit flicks that away towards long-leg for a single.

IND  48/2 | Overs 15 | Rohit 25*, Rayudu 16*

Southee continues. He bowls a full and straight delivery and Rohit hits it towards square-leg for a single. Southee then bowls five dot deliveries in-a-row to Rayudu.

IND  47/2 | Overs 14 | Rohit 24*, Rayudu 16*

Bennett bowls one on the pads and Rayudu flicks it towards deep mid-wicket for a four. Bennett bowls one short and slightly down the leg side and Rayudu pulls it to fine-leg for another four.

IND  39/2 | Overs 13 | Rohit 24*, Rayudu 8*

Southee has been brought back into the attack to replace Mills. He bowls four dot deliveries to Rayudu before he takes a single off the fifth ball. The last ball is a dot delivery to Rohit.

IND  38/2 | Overs 12 | Rohit 24*, Rayudu 7*

Bennett bowls one short and Rohit pulls that on the front foot and over the square-leg region for a six. Rohit then flicks one away behind square on the leg side for a single. Rayudu also takes a quick single off the last delivery.

IND  30/2 | Overs 11 | Rohit 17*, Rayudu 6*

Rayudu guides one to third-man for a single off Mills. Rohit hits one towards mid-wicket and takes a single. This has been really slow going for India. The New Zealand bowlers have been well on top of the Indian batsmen.

IND  28/2 | Overs 10 | Rohit 16*, Rayudu 5*

Hamish Bennett has been brought into the attack. The first ball is short and wide, but just inside the wide line. He then strays on the pads and Rayudu flicks it away towards the square-leg region for a four. Bennett then makes one come in and the ball hits Rayudu high on the pads and he gets a leg-bye.

IND  23/2 | Overs 9 | Rohit 16*, Rayudu 1* | OUT! Rahane 3 (8)

Mills digs one in short and Rahane pulls it straight to Southee at long-leg. Poor shot execution from the batsman there. Ambati Rayudu is the next batsman. He gets off the mark with a single behind square on the leg side.

IND  21/1 | Overs 8 | Rohit 15*, Rahane 3*

Rohit edges a back of a length delivery from Southee to Ross Taylor at first slip, but he drops a low catch to his right. Rohit then tucks one away towards mid-wicket for a single.

IND  20/1 | Overs 7 | Rohit 14*, Rahane 3*

Rohit hits the first ball very high in the air down the ground. Brendon McCullum runs backwards, but the ball falls out of reach near the long-off region. It is two runs. The fourth delivery is on the pads and Rohit launches it over deep mid-wicket for a six. It might have been out in other grounds, but the Seddon Park ground is small and it clears the fence.

IND  11/1 | Overs 6 | Rohit 5*, Rahane 3*

Rahane and Rohit gets singles off the first two deliveries. Rahane nudges one towards fine-leg to get India’s score into double digits. Southee bowls one on back of a length and outside off-stump. Rohit edges a cut in-between second slip and gully. But there is a third-man, so, it is only a single.

IND  7/1 | Overs 5 | Rohit 3*, Rahane 1*

Rohit is kept quiet by Mills in the over. He bowls a maiden to the India opener. On the fourth ball, Rohit tries to take a single, but is sent back and rightly so.

IND  7/1 | Overs 4 | Rohit 3*, Rahane 1* | OUT! Kohli 2 (10)

Southee bowls one full and Rohit mishits one over mid-on for a single. Southee then bowls a bouncer and Kohli goes for the pull. He top-edges it to James Neesham at mid-wicket. India’s top-order blues continues. Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in and he gets off the mark with a single towards extra-cover.

IND  3/0 | Overs 3 | Rohit 1*, Kohli 2*

Mills angles one in and Rohit tries to drove straight. But the ball takes a thick inside edge and goes towards deep square-leg. Rohit gets off the mark. Kohli walks down the track for the last ball but hits it to the point fielder.

IND  1/0 | Overs 2 | Rohit 0*, Kohli 1*

Tim Southee will share the new ball with Mills. He bowls a wide line outside off-stump. On the fifth ball, Kohli reaches out to a wide delivery and hits it towards wide mid-off. The ball is stopped, but Kohli and India are off the mark.

IND  0/0 | Overs 1 | Rohit 0*, Kohli 0*

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will open the batting for India. Kyle Mills begins proceedings for New Zealand. The first ball is an away swinger and Rohit leaves it alone. Good subtle movement from Mills. There is a big appeal for an LBW against Rohit, but the ball had hit the pads well down the leg side. The first over is a maiden.
