India have lost their first wicket as Shikhar Dhawan is dismissed for 13 by Dale Steyn on Day One of the first Test against South Africa. He pitched one in short and Dhawan top-edged a hook and Imran Tahir took the catch at fine-leg. India are at 17 for one after nine overs.
Murali Vijay is batting on four after nine overs.
India captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first on Wednesday.
Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander opened the bowling for South Africa. There is a bit of swing around and the bounce is also high at the New Wanderers Stadium.
Vijay hit a four straight down the ground while Dhawan flicked one towards the square-leg region for his first four as well.
