India lost three quick wickets in succession to be reeling at 264 for eight after 100 overs in their first innings of the first Test against South Africa in Johannesburg on Thursday. MS Dhoni (19), Ajinkya Rahane (47) and Zaheer Khan (0) were the wickets to fall.
India were at 255 for five at stumps after the first day. Rahane was batting on 43 and Dhoni was on 17. Now Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma are batting on zero each.
Dhoni was the first wicket to fall on Day Two for 19 off 72 balls. He edged a length delivery from Morne Morkel to AB de Villiers behind the wickets. Then Vernon Philander struck in the next over as he found the edge on Rahane’s bat and de Villiers took another catch.
Zaheer was out leg-before next ball as he missed a straight one. Philander could not get his hat-trick as Ishant played away the delivery.
