Kanpur: The Indian and South African cricket teams arrived at the Kanpur on Friday for the first One-Day International (ODI) to be played on Sunday, October 11 at the Green Park in Kanpur. The two teams reached Amausi airport in Lucknow by flight from Kolkata and the players reached the team hotel here at luxury buses at around 9 pm. The third and final T20 International between the two teams was abandoned on Thursday without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with South Africa being declared the winners of the series by a 2-0 margin.

According to the latest reports, the security at the Green Park has been beefed up after the second T20I at Cuttack was marred by incidents of hooliganism due to India’s lacklustre performance. CCTV cameras have been installed across the venue, along with 12 paramilitary companies in order to prevent a Cuttack-like situation from happening again.

South African coach Russell Domingo warned his side against getting overconfident ahead of the five-match series, asking them to focus all their energy on the upcoming game in Kanpur.

“We shouldn’t get too cocky and confident on what has happened as we know India are a very quality side. As far as I’m concerned, India are pretty good in all three formats. We are very pleased with the results so far but we have only played two days of cricket and there’s 25 days left.,” Domingo was quoted as saying.

The five ODIs will be followed by a four-Test series, which will bring South Africa’s marathon 72-day tour of India to an end.
