Bad Light stopped play in the last session of Day One of the second Test between India and South Africa at Durban. India are on 181 for one with an unbeaten 140-run partnership between Murali Vijay (91 not out) and Cheteshwar Pujara (58).
The Indian batsmen defied a barrage of short balls from Dale Steyn and other pacers throughout the innings. Robin Peterson was ineffective against the batsmen who were comfortable facing him. Vijay played a superb innings keeping patience at the start before going for his strokes.
India had gone into tea at 163 for one. In the last session, Steyn made good use of the old ball which was reversing. Since the batsmen had got their eye in, they managed to negotiate Steyn.
