Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Muarli Vijay got off to a good start with Dhawan being more aggressive of the two in the second Test at Durban on Thursday. The left-hander who was tested with short deliveries in the first Test looked much more prepared this time around. Dhawan had no hesitation going for his strokes early on.
Known for it’s green cover, Durban pitch so far looks good for batting and the bounce hasn’t been threatening. Looking at the ease with the batsmen were scoring, skipper Graeme Smith brought Morne Morkel in to bowl early. He managed to generate some bounce and Dhawan found himself in some sort of discomfort.
India won the toss in this crucial match and elected to bat. It is Jacques Kallis’s final Test for South Africa. Both teams made cahnges in their spin department. India have brought in Ravindra Jadeja for Ravichandran Ashwin while the Proteas included Robin Peterson for Imran Tahir.
