Morne Morkel got the first breakthrough for South Africa dismissing Shikhar Dhawan for 29 on Day One of the second Test. Dhawan was more positive of the two openers but he edged a Morkel delivery to third slip immediately after the drinks break.
The openers had got off to a good start scoring 43 in the first 13 overs. It was an unlike Durban wicket known for its green cover and bounce. The wicket didn’t have any threatening bounce and apart from some rising ball from Morkel, the batsmen were at ease.
Murali Vijay has kept his patience along with new batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. India had won the toss and elected to bat.
