IND 146/10 | Overs 35.1 | Ishant 0* OUT! Shami 8(14)
Game, set and match! Shami swings across the line as the batting powerplay comes into force. South Africa have won the game by 134 runs. Lonwabo Tsotsobe gets his fourth wicket for the game. So, the series goes their way after the defeat to Pakistan. A huge relief for de Villiers and company.
IND 146/9 | Overs 35 | Shami 8*, Ishant 0* OUT! Yadav 1(5)
Steyn will want to finish this off very quickly. And, he castles Yadav with a snorter. His stumps are re-arranged. South Africa inch closer to a big victory. Ishant comes in and misses the first delivery outside the off-stump. De Villiers has put three slip fielders for the last man.
IND 146/8 | Overs 34 | Shami 7*, Yadav 1* OUT! Jadeja 26(34)
Shami plays a typical tailenders waft through third-man and gets a single for that. Jadeja then tries to loft Tsotsobe over long-on, but de Villiers takes a magnificent catch on the boundary. It went high and was going to cross the fence, but de Villiers jumped, took it mid-air and landed before the boundary.
IND 144/7 | Overs 33 | Jadeja 26*, Shami 7*
Shami and Jadeja take a few singles as JP Duminy comes back to bowl. The game is just moving along without major incidents as South Africa are well and truly in command of things.
IND 139/7 | Overs 32 | Jadeja 23*, Shami 5*
Shami takes a single off the first ball bowled by Tsotsobe. Jadeja cuts the second ball behind point for a single. Shami makes room and lofts Tsotsobe over mid-wicket for a brace. He then pulls it across to take a single.
IND 134/7 | Overs 31 | Jadeja 22*, Shami 1* OUT! Ashwin 15(26)
Steyn continues and Ashwin faces him early in the over. Ashwin just plays out the first few deliveries. However, Steyn then pitches it short and Ashwin tries to pull. The bottom-edge goes through to de Kock and Ashwin is dismissed for 15. Shami gets off the mark first ball.
IND 133/6 | Overs 30 | Jadeja 22*, Ashwin 15*
India are just ambling along. Both batsmen are content in taking the singles and working the strike-over. It is only the odd ball that is going to the boundary. Tsotobe is back in the attack and gets to bowl to Jadeja.
IND 130/6 | Overs 29 | Jadeja 21*, Ashwin 9*
Steyn is back into the attack. Ashwin then punches a widish delivery through extra-cover for a four. It was a good shot as he was totally in control of it there.
IND 125/6 | Overs 28 | Jadeja 21*, Ashwin 8*
McLaren is into the attack and Jadeja gets off strike by cutting one behind point. McLaren also bowls a wide on the off-side as Ashwin could get nowhere close to it. Ashwin punches through the off-side and gets two for it. He plays the last ball to cover, but there is an overthrow and they get a single for that.
IND 120/6 | Overs 27 | Jadeja 20*, Ashwin 4*
Morkel oversteps and concedes the free hit. Jadeja is unable to capitalise as he makes room to the short one and cannot guide it to third-man. Jadeja also charges to Morkel, but cannot lay bat to ball. Morkel then bowls another short-one, but it goes down the leg-side and it is a wide.
IND 115/6 | Overs 26 | Jadeja 18*, Ashwin 4*
Jadeja is the lone fighter now. He gets a bit of width outside the off-stump and je crashes it behind point for a four. This only delays the inevitable, although people may still talk about Yusuf Pathan’s fairytale knock at Centurion which came during the last tour.
IND 108/6 | Overs 25 | Jadeja 12*, Ashwin 3*
The crowd at Kingsmead sing “Shosholoza” in unison as their team dominate India. Jadeja gets the first six for India as he dances down the ground to Morkel and lofts him high over mid-wicket for maximum. Morkel follows it up with a short one, which Jadeja lets go.
IND 100/6 | Overs 24 | Jadeja 5*, Ashwin 2*
Ashwin is the new batsman and they have a mountain to climb. He does get off the mark early. India’s hundred is up. It has taken its time and of course has come at some cost.
IND 95/6 | Overs 23 | Jadeja 2*, OUT! Raina 36(50)
Morkel comes from round the wicket and Raina miscues a pull through mid-on for a single. It has started raining again. Raina is gone now as he tries to smash one though the off-side and offers a catch to the fielder. Miller takes a good catch.
india looking ordinary here……acclimatisation taking a while!!

IND 91/5 | Overs 22 | Raina 33*, Jadeja 1*
Ryan McLaren starts things off with a wide down the leg-side. And, as we speak, there is a bit of respite from the rain. Raina capitalises on a good length ball as he pulls it behind square for four. These are better signs from Raina. Jadeja is now off the mark as well.
IND 83/5 | Overs 21 | Raina 28*, Jadeja 0*
Raina lofts it to the leg-side and gets two. He then glances it to fine-leg for a four. Morkel is then pulled for two. There is a more proactive approach there by Raina.
IND 74/5 | Overs 20 | Raina 20*, Jadeja 0* OUT! Dhoni 19(31)
Dhoni punches through covers for two. It was a more attacking stroke here by Dhoni and then he takes a single off the next ball. South Africa are trying to make it quicker as they need four deliveries to make it a game. Raina then works it to the leg-side for a single. And Dhoni is gone. He edges the ball through to the keeper and is gone! Ravindra Jadeja comes in as the rain gets harder.
IND 70/4 | Overs 19 | Raina 19*, Dhoni 16*
And a boundary at last for India. Duminy strays on Raina’s pads and he sweeps it to the boundary. The rain is coming down harder they say and South Africa have to get one more over.
IND 63/4 | Overs 18 | Raina 14*, Dhoni 14*
Dhno gets a single early in the over and lets Raina face Philander. He then pulls to the leg-side and gets two. There is some rain around in the air and the game hasn’t yet reached the 20 over mark.
IND 60/4 | Overs 17 | Raina 12*, Dhoni 13*
Duminy comes from round the wicket and turns it away from Raina. De Kock whips the bails, but there is no danger. These two are only getting the singles and there is no such intent to attack yet as they have to build the partnership.
IND 58/4 | Overs 16 | Raina 11*, Dhoni 12*
Dhoni gets a single off the first ball as he drives it back past the bowler. Philander gives Raina more short stuff, and he manages to pull it for a single. They are taking every opportunity they have to take a single. Only three boundaries have been hit in this innings and it is about rebuilding now.
IND 54/4 | Overs 15 | Raina 9*, Dhoni 10*
Dhoni tries to sweep the first ball off Duminy but does not connect. He gets a single off the next to get off strike. Some interesting stats for you:

IND 51/4 | Overs 14 | Raina 8*, Dhoni 8*
Philander runs in and Dhoni places it behind square to take a single. He bowls it a bit short to Raina and he pulls it to fine-leg for another run. This is something you will expect to Raina. How many short ones are they going to bowl to him today. There is one to Dhoni as well, but he pulls it with control to square-leg for a single. India’s fifty is up!
IND 46/4 | Overs 13 | Raina 6*, Dhoni 5*
JP Duminy is brought into the attack to bowl his off-spinners. The first ball stays a touch low and Dhoni plays it down. The second ball is worked away to square-leg for a single. Raina also gets a single by working it through the leg-side. Only three runs come off that over. South Africa trying to build the pressure.
IND 43/4 | Overs 12 | Raina 5*, Dhoni 3*
Raina cuts the first one through gully and gets a single. Dhoni then moves across his stumps and runs through for a single as he dabs it to the leg-side. Philander then bowls one short and Raina swivels to pull it through to square-leg for a single. Philander strays on Dhoni’s pads and gets another single. A long road ahead for India if they have to come close!
IND 39/4 | Overs 11 | Raina 3*, Dhoni 1*
Raina plays the short-arm pull off Morkel and gets two for that. He gets off the mark with that one. Replays are confirming now that Rahane did not get anything on to it and the bat was miles away from the ball. Raina then jabs it through third-man and gets a single. Dhoni will now face Morkel. He plays and misses the last ball that holds his line on the off-stump.
IND 35/4 | Overs 10 | Raina 0*, Dhoni 1*
Vernon Philander has been introduced into the attack. Dhoni is covering the line and striding forward to play. He is playing more positively and it trying to get bat on ball. It is a maiden over.
IND 35/4 | Overs 9 | Raina 0*, Dhoni 1* OUT! Rahane 8(16)
Morne Morkel is introduced into the attack and Rahane punches him through the covers for a four. He stood up tall and drove it with grace. It was well controlled by him. And Rahane is gone! He chases one that is wide of the crease and Rahane tries to cut it. The South Africans appeal and he has to go. There are some doubts as to whether he edged. Mahendra Singh Dhoni walks into a terrible situation.
IND 30/3 | Overs 8 | Rahane 4*, Raina 0* OUT! Rohit 19(26)
Tsotsobe gives Rohit width and he crashes it behind point for a four. Typical Rohit short as he shapes to cut quite early and it flew over point. The fielder at third-man had no chance to stop it. And he is gone! Rohit tries to pull it over mid-wicket and Hashim Amla takes the catch at mid-wicket. India in trouble here. Suresh Raina comes in.
IND 25/2 | Overs 7 | Rohit 15*, Rahane 4*
Steyn bowls to Rahane and gets it outside the off-stump. Rahane lets it go through. Then comes another short deliver as Rahane ducks under it. He then pushes the third ball through the covers and runs for a single. Rohit pushes through for a single and Miller tries to shy at the stumps, but it misses. Big opportunity for South Africa. Rahane pulls Steyn for a brace behind point.
IND 21/2 | Overs 6 | Rohit 14*, Rahane 1*
Rohit edges the first ball to third-man and runs through for the single. Rahane would now face Tsotsobe and lets the first ball go through to the wicket-keeper. He is tricked by a short one as he prepares to pull it, but changes his mind afterwards. He then gets off the mark by pushing it to the leg-side. He would breathe a sigh of relief. Rohit tries to pull one, but miscues it over mid-wicket. He gets two for that.
IND 17/2 | Overs 5 | Rohit 11*, Rahane 0*
Steyn runs in and is getting a bit of bounce as well. He exchanges a few stares with Rohit. Both these Mumbai batsmen have a good chance to prove their credentials here. Rohit works it to the leg-side and takes the single on offer as Rahane comes to face Steyn. He is welcomed by a few short ones as he lets them go through.
IND 16/2 | Overs 4 | Rohit 10*, Rahane 0* OUT! Kohli 0(5)
Tsotsobe is getting good shape away from Rohit and he lets them go through. He then pushes one to the covers and runs for a single. By the time the throw reaches the stumps, Kohli was in. There was no danger there. And, Kohli is gone. Shaping away from the right hander, he pokes at it and it takes the edge as it goes to the wicket-keeper. India in trouble. Ajinkya Rahane walks in.

IND 15/1 | Overs 3 | Rohit 9*, Kohli 0* OUT! Dhawan 0(2)
Dhawan is gone for nought! Steyn bowls one that leaves him and Dhawan tries to smash the next ball over point. Instead, he carts it straight to point. Big blow for India. Virat Kohli walks out to the centre after an early wicket. This is a test for him. Steyn is running in with steam. He bowls a bouncer that climbs and de Kock could not collect it. It goes through to the boundary after it hits de Kock’s gloves.
IND 10/0 | Overs 2 | Rohit 9*, Dhawan 0*
Lonwabo Tsotsobe is into the attack and delivers a wide down the leg-side to Rohit first up. Rohit inside edges it to fine-leg and it very nearly takes the stumps. Tsotsobe bowls it a touch wide and Rohit crashes it behind point for a four. Good footwork from Rohit in this over. He seems to have studied his previous experience.
IND 5/0 | Over 1 | Rohit 5*, Dhawan 0*
Unlike the last game, Rohit gets the bat on ball off the first ball. Steyn strays down the leg-side and gets a brace. The next ball is angled into the pads and he gets another two. The third ball leaves him and Rohit pokes at it. Rohit watching it very closely and it playing with conviction so far. Far better start for him here. He finishes the over with a single through third-man.
SA 280/6 | Overs 49 | McLaren 11*, Philander 14*
Yadav will bowl the last over. Philander pulls him to long-on for a single and lets McLaren take strike. They do need a lot of boundaries. And, McLaren delivers as he lofts one high behind square on the leg-side and it travels all the way into the stands. The next ball is a full-toss, but McLaren doesn’t get it off the middle and can only get a single through the off-side. Philander then gets a french cut and it goes into the boundary past Dhoni. No one could have stopped that. So, some crucial runs here for South Africa. Philander then heaves across the line and gets another four through fine-leg. He finishes the over with a boundary over long off. So a late flurry here for South Africa.
Now, we have the innings break. Do join us in a while.
SA 260/6 | Overs 48 | McLaren 5*, Philander 1* OUT! Kallis 10(13)
Shami to bowl the 48th over. Kallis heaves the first one, but misses and it hits his body. He hits the next one straight to mid-off. Kallis then lofts the third ball over mid-wicket for a four. Finally he gets it away. But, then Shami bowls a Yorker and Kallis misses it completely and his leg-stump is pegged back. Vernon Philander walks out to bat. McLaren pulls the last ball for a four through square leg.
Here is something interesting for you:

SA 251/5 | Overs 47 | Kallis 6*, McLaren 1* OUT! Duminy 26(29)
Ishant comes into the attack and Kallis lofts the first ball over his head for a brace. The ball stopped on the outfield. Ishant then follows it up with a yorker as Kallis digs it out. Duminy carts one through the leg-side and tries to run for a brace. But, the throw comes in from the deep and it is right over the stumps. Duminy’s dive doesn’t save him as Dhoni takes off the bails. Ryan McLaren joins Kallis and gets off the mark off the first ball. The 250 is up for South Africa.
SA 245/4 | Overs 46 | Duminy 25*, Kallis 2*
Shami runs in to bowl and delivers a bouncer to Kallis. The batsman ducks and the umpire calls it a wide. Shami keeps Kallis in check as he is only able to play it to the fielders. Dhoni has kept five fielders inside the ring and the off-side is mainly packed. There is a mid-wicket and a long-on as well. Kallis gets it away at last as he carts one over square on the off-side. Only a single on offer. Duminy then times it through mid-off for a four.
SA 238/4 | Overs 45 | Duminy 20*, Kallis 1*
Jacques Kallis is in the middle. Jadeja gets a bit of turn as he comes from round the wicket to Duminy and turns it outside the leg-stump. Duminy cannot take the attack and only manages a single off the third ball. Kallis gets off the mark by driving through the off-side for a single. Duminy too charges down the track and gets a single through long-on.
SA 234/4 | Overs 44 | Duminy 18*, OUT! Miller 0(3) Amla 100(117)
Amla dabs one to the off-side and gets his century. He salutes the crowd at Durban and this is his first one here in ODIs. This is after all his home-ground. Shami bowls it short and Amla tries to pull it. It gets the toe of the bat and goes through to Dhoni, who takes it safely. Big wicket for India. Miller joins Duminy in the centre. And Miller is gone too! Shami traps him leg-before off the final ball of the over. The ball came back into the left-hander and trapped him, but replays show that there is an inside-edge.
SA 229/2 | Overs 43 | Hashim Amla 99*, Duminy 17*
Jadeja in his penultimate over. He continues to keep it tight and isn’t letting it easy for the hosts. Duminy finally gets a boundary through as he punches one off the backfoot through the covers for a four. Amla moves to 99 as he cuts one through the off-side.
SA 222/2 | Overs 42 | Hashim Amla 96*, Duminy 11*
Amla pushes Yadav for a quick single and gets in even as the throw misses the stumps. Yadav bowls a short one and has Duminy ducking underneath it. It isn’t called a wide as it was directed very well. Amla is now on 96 off 112 balls and the ton is very much in sight. Expect him to be more attacking once he gets there.
SA 219/2 | Overs 41 | Hashim Amla 94*, Duminy 10*
Jadeja is into his eight over. He has been the pick of the bowlers as he has conceded runs under five an over and it keeping Duminy quiet. There may be a few singles, but the dot balls are also adding value and helping India.
SA 216/2 | Overs 40 | Hashim Amla 92*, Duminy 9*
The powerplays are done and India did well to hit back, but we now warm up for the final assault. Since the outfield is slow, not many balls have found their way through to the boundaries. They are now taking singles and Duminy is getting his eye in before he can attack. Meanwhile, Amla has moved into the 90s and a ton is very much in sight.
SA 210/2 | Overs 39 | Hashim Amla 88*, Duminy 7*
Jadeja continues to bowl and keeps Duminy on strike off the first two deliveries. There are only singles that come off this over as Jadeja is keeping it very tight. There is some hesitation in the calling, but all seems well.
SA 207/2 | Overs 38 | Hashim Amla 87*, Duminy 5*
Umesh Yadav returns to the attack. The powerplay is still going on, but those wickets have dented South Africa a touch. One expects a consolidation period before the final assault. Duminy and Amla work for the singles wherever they are there. There was a shy at the non-striker’s stumps for Amla, but the ball misses and the batsmen run two.
SA 201/2 | Overs 37 | Hashim Amla 85*, Duminy 1* OUT! AB de Villiers 3(4)
De Villiers is gone as Jadeja gets his man. He draws de Villiers forward as he drags his foot out and misses the ball. Dhoni collects and takes the bails off in no time. So quick wickets for India after a long drought. Duminy is the new man and gets off the mark instantly with a single through long-off. Amla is still there and the focus is on him.
SA 198/1 | Overs 36 | Hashim Amla 83*, AB de Villiers 2* OUT! Q de Kock 106(118)
De Kock sweeps Ashwin and finds the man at square-leg. Rohit Sharma accepts the catch as the Indians breathe a sigh of relief. At last they have a wicket. De Villiers is the new man and it is a sensible decision. He plays the first ball back to the bowler and then gets off the mark by pushing one through the off-side. There is a leg-before appeal to Amla, but the umpire gives him not out. And, then de Villiers unleashes the reverse sweep instantly and runs two.
SA 194/0 | Overs 35 | de Kock 106*, Hashim Amla 82*
De Kocks moves away for the first one as Shami comes from round the wicket. It doesn’t bounce as much and Dhoni cannot collect it as Amla comes on strike. Shami then bowls it short to Amla and it gloves it to fine-leg for a four. Amla moves into the 80s with that. De Kock then comes down the wicket, makes room and drives through mid-off and cover for a four.
SA 183/0 | Overs 34 | de Kock 101*, Hashim Amla 78*
The batting powerplay has been taken with de Kock on 99. Ishant to continue to bowl. He puts one to the leg-side and he completes his second consecutive ton. This is his third ton. Only three runs have come off the first over of the powerplay. The major highlight has been de Kock’s ton, but even Amla is getting closer.
SA 180/0 | Overs 33 | de Kock 99*, Hashim Amla 77*
Still no wickets for India even as Jadeja continues. These two look unbeatable as the singles are coming easily and the occasional boundaries help them surge forward. De Kock is moving towards his second consecutive century as he pushes through for a double through mid-wicket and gets to 98. He then moves to 99 with a single.
SA 173/0 | Overs 32 | de Kock 94*, Hashim Amla 75*
Some pace into the attack. Ishant Sharma returns to the crease with Amla and de Kock well set. De Kock pulls it to mid-on and Raina fields it and throws it to the stumps at the striker’s end in one action as Amla is in safely.
SA 171/0 | Overs 31 | de Kock 93*, Hashim Amla 74*
This is a record opening partnership at this venue. These two have put on 170 plus and have gone past the record Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden in 2002.
SA 165/0 | Overs 30 | de Kock 91*, Hashim Amla 70*
Ashwin is hit by Amla through the off-side for a single. One ball has de Kock in trouble as it turns away from him. De Kock has not entered the 90s.

SA 160/0 | Overs 29 | de Kock 88*, Hashim Amla 68*
Amla is the fastest to 4,000 runs.
SA 154/0 | Overs 28 | de Kock 87*, Hashim Amla 63*
Ashwin is the new bowler. He has Amla in a tangle off the penultimate delivery as he very nearly edged it back onto his stumps. Indians sigh. This partnership grows even stronger.
SA 151/0 | Overs 27 | de Kock 86*, Hashim Amla 62*
These two have now put up 150 on the board and this is an even better performance when compared to the first ODI. Jadeja hits Amla on the pads as he tried to push the ball to the leg-side. However, the umpire didn’t move. The replays suggest that it may have hit, but it had pitched marginally outside the leg-stump.
SA 147/0 | Overs 26 | de Kock 84*, Hashim Amla 60*
Ashwin will continue. They are getting easy singles and there are no problems there for them. Amla gets to his 4,000 ODI runs as he works one through the leg-side. This stand is now pushing closer to 150.
SA 142/0 | Overs 25 | de Kock 82*, Hashim Amla 57*
Jadeja finally comes into the attack and bowls a good ball first up to de Kock. He also gets him to edge it through the leg-side. For Amla, he comes from round the wicket and is punched back for no run. When it was bowled a bit fuller, he drove it through long-off for a single. These two will now watch him closely for a while and then perhaps take the attack.
SA 138/0 | Overs 24 | de Kock 80*, Hashim Amla 55*
Ashwin returns to the attack and Amla plays the first one to long-on and gets his fifty. Durban applauds as Amla raises his bat. Ashwin then pitches it a bit short outside the off-stump and he carts it through the covers for a four. Typical Amla shot that one! Ashwin then pauses, but Amla is up to the task as he gets a single. De Kock then pulls it through mid-wicket and gets a single to move into the 80s.
SA 130/0 | Overs 23 | de Kock 78*, Hashim Amla 49*
Kohli continues as there is no sign of Jadeja just yet. de Kock runs the first one through mid-on for a single. Amla blocks the next and then goes for a single. de Kock then smashes the ball through mid-wicket and it goes for four. It was a full-toss and de Kock had no problems in punishing it. Amla now moves to 49 with a single through long-on
SA 122/0 | Overs 22 | de Kock 70*, Hashim Amla 47*
Raina pitches it a bit short outside the off-stump and there is room. Amla has no problems in punching it through the covers for a four. De Kock then dances down the track and lofts Raina over mid-wicket and it goes through for four. Eleven runs have come off that over. This partnership is moving at a faster pace when compared to their stand at Johannesburg.
SA 111/0 | Overs 21 | de Kock 66*, Hashim Amla 42*
Kohli continues from round the wicket. The first ball goes to short dine-leg, where Ashwin misfields a touch and concedes the extra run. The batsmen are getting the easy runs and are pushing the score along. Amla though blocks the last two deliveries of the over as Kohli gets them in the right areas. Dhoni has to do something here.
SA 106/0 | Overs 20 | de Kock 62*, Hashim Amla 41*
Play resumes after the drinks break. De Kock pushes it through the off-side for a double and then works it to fine-leg where Shami comes across and throws it to the stumps. Dhoni flicks it onto the stumps, but Amla is safely in. Nothing much in this pitch for the spinners, and it is quite surprising that Raina is continuing.
SA 101/0 | Overs 19 | de Kock 58*, Hashim Amla 40*
Virat Kohli is the new bowler. He comes in to bowl ahead of Ravindra Jadeja. The South African openers have put up 100 on the board now. This is the second consecutive hundred partnership between the duo.
SA 97/0 | Overs 18 | de Kock 55*, Hashim Amla 39*
Raina bowls his gentle off-spinners and the South Africans work him across for singles. This looks very easy and there is nothing in the wicket that should support spin.
SA 93/0 | Overs 17 | de Kock 54*, Hashim Amla 36*
Ashwin continues bowling and the openers look untroubled. de Kock is looking very solid and can build on this good start.
SA 90/0 | Overs 16 | de Kock 51*, Hashim Amla 35*
De Kock runs Raina through third-man and runs through for a brace. These two are now making it look easy. In the first game, they put up 150 plus and they look good to do the same as they are going at a good rate. The last ball is worked through fine-leg and de Kock completes his fifty with that brace.
SA 83/0 | Overs 15 | de Kock 45*, Hashim Amla 35*
de Kock puts Ashwin away through the covers for a single. Amla walks down the ground and lofts it towards long-on. Shami takes it on the first bounce and the Indian players don’t seem too happy with his decision to take it on the bounce. Amla then smashes it over mid-off for a four. Things have picked up pace at Durban.
SA 76/0 | Overs 14 | de Kock 43*, Hashim Amla 30*
Rainaalso continues. Quite surprising that Dhoni has opted for him ahead of Jadeja. In Indian conditions, one could fathom such a move, but what does Dhoni have up his sleeve? Only three runs come off the over through.
SA 73/0 | Overs 13 | de Kock 41*, Hashim Amla 29*
Ashwin continues and the South African batsmen are content in taking the singles. They are also running a few quick singles, de kock being the younger of the two is pushing partner to run through. Coming from round the wicket, Ashwin bowls it flatter. As Amla shapes to cut it, he gets an edge and it goes fine through third-man for a four. A good start for South Africa yet again.
SA 64/0 | Overs 12 | de Kock 38*, Hashim Amla 23*
Another spinner on show. Suresh Raina this time. Amla gets a single off the second ball as he punches it through long-off. de Kock pulls it through square-leg and runs through for a single.
SA 62/0 | Overs 11 | de Kock 37*, Hashim Amla 22*
Spin comes in early in the innings. Ashwin comes to bowl the 11th over. He is coming from round the wicket to the left-handed de Kock and gets a single off the third ball. Amla then dances down the ground and lofts it. The outfield is slow and cannot go through to the boundary. It is fielded there as the batsmen get two.
SA 58/0 | Overs 10 | de Kock 36*, Hashim Amla 19*
Ishant is being persisted with as Dhoni backs him to come god. He has bowled decently well so far and has hit the right areas. Amla defends a good delivery first-up. Amla punches the next ball through the covers and gets a single. de Kock plays a brilliant shot as he works Ishant through mid-wicket for a four. It was like a jab as the ball goes through to the boundary. Amla smashes the last ball through extra cover for four. So, the openers get a move on now.
SA 48/0 | Overs 9 | de Kock 31*, Hashim Amla 14*
De Kock pulls Shami through mid-wicket for four. The ball was a bit outside the off, but de Kock half-pulled it in front of the wicket. The next ball is full and he drives it through mid-off for four. It was an even better shot. Full of class and great timing! Shami then changes his angle as he comes from round the wicket. de Kock backs out quite a lot as Amla pushes through to mid-on, but as the stumps were down, de Kock did make it back.
SA 38/0 | Overs 8 | de Kock 22*, Hashim Amla 13*
Ishant is driven through mid-off for a four by de Kock. He just pushed it and Umesh was a touch wide there and couldn’t stop it with the wide. The next ball is worked to fine-leg for a brace. Ishant gets one outside the off-stump that squares up de Kock. It was a good delivery as it just seamed away from the batsman.
SA 31/0 | Overs 7 | de Kock 15*, Hashim Amla 13*
Shami is hitting the right areas now after an inconsistent first over. He bowls a short one that sails over de Kock’s head. The umpire signals it a wide. Shami then strays on Amla’s pads and he is worked away for two before Ishant from fine lg, can stop the ball.
SA 27/0 | Overs 6 | de Kock 14*, Hashim Amla 11*
Ishant continues. Amla comes on strike as de Kock takes a single early in the over. This has been a good tight over for India. Ishant finding his rhythm. Amla edges the last ball over the gully region for a four.
SA 21/0 | Overs 5 | de Kock 13*, Hashim Amla 6*
Shami comes in from the other end. The second ball is driven on the rise by de Kock and he through for two. Shami gets an edge as it has de Kock squared up. However, the ball falls short of first-slip. Ravichandran Ashwin was the fielder and it looks like it hurt him a touch. He has gone off the field and Ambati Rayudu has come out to replace him.
SA 19/0 | Overs 4 | de Kock 12*, Hashim Amla 6*
Ishant Sharma comes into the attack. His first over in international cricket since the James Faulkner onslaught. Amla works the second delivery through third-man for a single. He gets an edge off de Kock and it flies through the vacant gully region and is fielder by third-man.
SA 15/0 | Overs 3 | de Kock 10*, Hashim Amla 4*
The second ball is full and de Kock plays it beautifully through mid-off and it goes through for four. Man in form one would say! de Kock then pulls the last ball through square-leg. The fielder in the ring dives across but it was just out of his reach. So, eight runs off the over, de Kock gets a move on. He is carrying on from Johannesburg.
SA 7/0 | Overs 2 | de Kock 2*, Hashim Amla 4*
Mohammed Shami gets the the new ball for this game. Hashim Amla blocks the first two deliveries solidly. The third ball strays down the leg-side and it is a wide. Amla then pushed through square-leg and runs through for two. Shami isn’t exactly getting his line here and is straying on the pads. Even when the left-handed de Kock came on strike, he faced a delivery on his body. And then the last ball is a beauty as it holds its line outside the off-stump.
SA 2/0 | Over 1 | de Kock 1*, Hashim Amla 1*
Umesh Yadav starts proceedings on his comeback. Quinton de Kock blocks the third-ball and runs through to the other end to help South Africa get off the mark. Hashim Amla also gets off the mark by pushing one through the leg-side. The last ball climbs on de Kock and leaves his off-stump. It is a good first over by Yadav.
The teams line-up for the national anthem. One can feel the emotions at Kingsmead as these pictures come days after the demise of Nelson Mandela, the former South African president.

The match is going to start at 15:00 IST i.e. 11:30 local time at Durban. Due to the wet-outfield, there was a delay, but we are ready for the contest now. The toss is just about round the corner.
The inspection has been delayed and now it will take place at 14:10 IST. So, we have easily lost about an hour of play as one doesn’t feel the game would start before 14:30. Here is what the BCCI tweeted:
The inspection has been pushed by 20 mins. Next call will be taken at 1410 hrs IST #SAvIND

We are getting news that the match has been delayed by about 30 minutes. So, the toss will take place at around 13:30 IST and the game itself may begin at 14:00 IST. It is said that the conditions are not all that good. There is cloud cover there, so one hopes that it doesn’t rain.
There seems to be a further delay as the inspection is yet to take place. Here is what Cricket South Africa tweeted:
