On a sluggish pitch, India managed to steady their innings after losing Rohit Sharma for 13 in their second Asia Cup 2014 match at Fatullah on Friday. India are 63 for one in 17 overs.
Virat Kohli survived a close stumping call when he went down the wicket against Chaturanga de Silva. The third umpire ruled it in favour of Kohli.
Seeing the slow nature of the pitch, skipper Angelo Mathews brought in Sachithra Senanayake. He tied down the batsman and had Rohit in trouble on a few occasions. Senannayake ultimately got the first wicket when he trapped Rohit coming down the track leg-before. In the meanwhile, Mathews had to go off the field due to cramps.
Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli steadied the ship for India. Kohli was in his usual with crisp drives and flicks through the midwicket. Dhawan learnt the trick of dealing with the slow pitch by playing with soft hands.
