West Indies might have had bad day at the office against India on Day 3 of the first Test at Antigua, as their batsmen were on the receiving end of the damage caused by Indian quick’s. But they certainly had a few positive moments to rejoice on a day which not much went according to their plans. The Shane Dowrich – Jason Holder partnership was one instance when their fans would have had a reason to cheer the team. The talented youngster Dowrich put on a 69-run partnership with his captain Holder as the home side tried to move towards the Indian mountain of 566 runs. Holder though, was picked up by Umesh Yadav and was out for 36. Fast-medium bowlers Yadav and Mohammed Shami took four wickets each to wreck the home side’s first innings, dismissing them for 243 in the final session of the day with half-centuries by opener Kraigg Brathwaite and wicketkeeper-batsman Dowrich representing the only meaningful resistance.

Brathwaite, who defied India’s array of pace and spin for almost five hours in getting to 74, could not survive the first over of the second turn at the crease, being trapped palpably leg-before by Ishant Sharma.
