India vs West Indies 2016, 4th Test, Day 1: Session Highlights

West Indies go at stumps placed at 62 for 2 on Day One of the fourth Test against India at Port of Spain with only 22 overs being bowled as rain wrecked havoc played spoilsport.

Jason holder won the toss and elected to bat first on a track that was curated to produced both bounce and turn. Virat Kohli who is known for his no none-sense cricket roped in Cheteshwar Pujara, who was dropped in the last match for the ever erratic Shikhar Dhawan. Also back in the team was Murali Vijay, who was nursing an injury, replacing all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. It was the potent Ishant Sharma who made early inroads, getting the key wicket of Leon Johnson with for 9. Kraigg Brathwaite, at the other end, was looking gritty and solid, much like the previous Test scoring only when there was a ball to be hit. The hosts were 62 for two with Kraigg Brathwaite (32) and Marlon Samuels (4) at the crease. The intermittent rain ended any chance of resumption of play even as the ground staff also struggled to keep ground play ready. The play will start 30 minutes early tomorrow, with a maximum of 98 over to be bowled. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0/13) and Mohammed Shami (0-14) started off proceedings after the hosts elected to bat, half an hour past the scheduled time with the session timings adjusted accordingly. Under overcast conditions, the two pacers got enough purchase with the new ball and squared up both batsmen on more than a couple occasions from both ends. Kumar, in particular, continued from where he left off in St. Lucia.
