Jos Buttler missed the chance to becomes the first batsman to register 6 consecutive half-centuries in T20 cricket by 11 runs. Buttler will, however, hold the record jointly with Virender Sehwag. In Match 49 of Vivo IPL 2018 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Eden Gardens, Buttler got out on 39 after a rollicking start (that included 28 off an over from Shivam Mavi). He tried to reverse-sweep Kuldeep Yadav right after the first Strategic Timeout and got a leading edge. He was looking good on 39 but not getting strike for a while cost him his wicket. His innings included 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Buttler’s fortunes changed after RR promoted him to the top of the order. His incredible run also made him the highest IPL run-scorer (1,075) from Englishmen; he went past Kevin Pietersen’s tally of 1,001. However, this may be his last game for RR this season as he has been selected for the Test against Pakistan. This also means RR will also miss the service of Ben Stokes.
