Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) comfortably chased down 142 to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the match 49 of Vivo IPL 2018. RR got off to a flyer, but KKR bowlers did well to pull things back after the wicket of Jos Buttler. In the end RR were bowled out for 142. Kuldeep Yadav was the star with ball. He got the important wicket of Buttler, and picked up 4 for 20. Then Dinesh Karthik (41*) and Chris Lynn (45) took the game home in the second innings.

In the post-match presentation Kuldeep revealed that he was under pressure to perform: ”I was a bit under pressure after the start they got. I was only thinking of taking a wicket, Jos Buttler is the man in form and I was really trying to get him out. You have to motivate yourself, you have to back your strengths and basics and try to succeed.”

Kuldeep also spoke about the importance of variation in the shortest format of the game: ”I don’t try a lot because I try to succeed with my strengths only. But you need to keep changing in a format like T20.”

He also spoke on Buttler’s dismissal: “I knew Buttler would go for a reverse sweep and that’s why I bowled the quicker one to him. You need to keep planning in every game for every batsman; sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn’t but you need to keep trying.”
