He led India U-19 to a World Cup title early in 2018. He was picked up by Delhi Daredevils (DD) in IPL 2018 auction for INR 1.2 crores. He is honoured to be sharing the dressing room with greats like Gautam Gambhir and Ricky Ponting, and now will also debut in the DD’s first home game in IPL 11; versus rampant Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). India’s youngest superstar, Prithvi Shaw is set to make his first IPL appearance in DD’s crucial clash versus KXIP.

Shaw, a clear hitter of the ball and one who prefers to play straight, has been in ominous form. He turned up the heat with his solid appearances in Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments, and never deterred in front of star players. As a result, cricket pundits expect a lot from him in IPL. His First-Class average is beyond 50 (56.22). He even impressed in U-19 World Cup early in the year.

Shaw’s batting fits well in modern-era; his talks depicts his maturity

“It’s a great opportunity even if we (U-19 stars) sit outside. To share the dressing room with (Gautam) Gambhir sir, Ricky (Ponting) sir – it’s a great opportunity for us in the first season. I’m looking forward to the experience. We’re really enjoying ourselves. We’ve been together for three-four days but it feels like we’ve been together for a longer time. Ricky sir said T20 is very fast and you don’t get much time. He said small things matter in T20s and he’s just preparing us for those things that he has already achieved in his career,” said Shaw before start of current edition.
