Match 43 of VIVO IPL 2018 turned out to be a humdinger. Chasing 177 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals (RR) were kept in the hunt by Jos Buttler. He single-handedly took the home side to victory with 95 not out, keeping their Playoffs’ hopes alive. In the post-match ceremony, RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane confessed of nerves during the end overs and lauded his batsmen: ”As I always mention, this format is always about giving your best everyday. Buttler’s consistent batting at the top is magnificent. KG’s [Krishnappa Gowtham] knock was crucial. I was nervous, but sometimes you have to control your emotions as a captain and we all had a feeling that Buttler will take us through. The way he handled the spinners was too good. He’s learning a lot, spending time with the experienced players and Warnie [Shane Warne].”

RR face Mumbai Indians (MI) in a mouth-watering encounter at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday. Both sides are tied on 10 points, and will look to topple one or both of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a Playoff spot. Rahane opened up on that: “It’s all about taking one game at a time right now. Now going to Mumbai, we all know how dangerous a side they are.”

Rahane also thanked his franchise and Rajasthan Government for supporting the cancer awareness campaign as RR sportied a pink-cyan-burgundy jersey for the cause.

RR are currently sixth, tied on 10 points with MI and KKR. However, they lag on net run rate. Meanwhile, CSK remain at the second place.
