Mumbai Indians (MI) have reached a score of 141 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Opting to bowl first, Bangalore struck two early blows to Mumbai as he got rid of James Franklin and Rohit Sharma in the second over of the innings.
Sachin Tendulkar was cautious on the bowling-friendly track. He scored 24 runs before getting dismissed caught and bowled off the bowling of Harshal Patel.
Wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu then consolidated Mumbai’s innings for the fourth wicket.
But the 44-run partnership between the two was cut short as Rayudu was dismissed by Harshal Patel for 22 runs.
Karthik could not continue Mumbai’s consolidation as he was dismissed by Muttiah Muralitharan in the 16th over after making valiant 44 runs. Hero of the previous match, Dwayne Smith was sent back to the pavilion the next delivery as he gave a catch to Vinay Kumar.
However, some lusty blows by Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard in death overs helped Mumbai reach 141 runs.
Brief Score: MI 141 for 6 in 20 overs (Dinesh Karthik 44, Sachin Tendulkar 24, Ambati Rayudu 22; Muttiah Muralitharan 2 for 24, Harshal Patel 2 for 24, R Vinay Kumar 2 for 34) vs. RCB
