Destiny’s favourite child, Mahendra Singh Dhoni gets another crack at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 as his Chennai Super Kings scraped through to the play-offs. However, Harbhajan Singh’s Mumbai Indians stand in their way as the two teams clash in the Eliminator at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
Harbhajan won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The winner of this match goes through to the second qualifier and would face Delhi Daredevils for a berth in the final. The loser would get eliminated from the competition and would have wait for the next season.
In the IPL 2012, Mumbai beat Chennai in both their encounters. The second one was a breath-taking contest as Dwayne Smith stole the game from Chennai’s grasp at the last moment.
The defending champions haven’t been at their dominant best as their batsmen haven’t scored big and their bowlers are struggling to pick wickets. Ben Hilfenhaus has been their best bowler and his contribution would be crucial in the Eliminator.
Faf du Plessis has been Chennai’s best batsman but doesn’t find himself in the line-up.
Mumbai on the other hand have been erratic, but are a formidablee force on their day. Rohit Sharma is their hope with the bat and Lasith Malinga is their trump card with the ball.
