Raipur: Apr 28, 2013

The Warriors started off on a confident note but perhaps they were a tad slow in their approach, which left the middle-order with an uphill task. Yuvraj Singh and Steven Smith tried hard but couldn’t do much for their side. Delhi have won their second game in the tournament.

PWI 149/4 | Overs 20 | Smith 17*,  Manhas 2*

A boundary and a six in the final over by Steven Smith but it is not enough. The Delhi Daredevils have won their second match in IPL 2013 by 15 runs.

PWI 137/4 | Overs 19 | Smith 6*,  Manhas 1*

Only seven runs scored off Ashish Nehra’s final over of the game as Pune are left with a huge task – 28 runs needed off six balls.

PWI 130/4 | Overs 18 | Smith 0*   OUT! Wright 19(18) and Yuvraj 31(24)

Luke Wright falls on the second delivery in a bid to up the scoring rate for 19 off 18 balls. Yuvraj slaps the ball hard to get a boundary but a fine effort by David Warner cuts it for only two runs. The left-hander is caught by Ben Rohrer on the last ball as Delhi are in complete command. A brilliant over by Umesh Yadav as two big wickets fall and only two runs are scored.

PWI 128/2 | Overs 17 | Yuvraj 29*, Wright 19*

Luke Wright slaps the ball over Morne Morkel on first ball of the over for a boundary, but Pune fail to collect any more. Nine runs come from that over and Pune now need 37 runs in 16 balls.

PWI 119/2 | Overs 16 | Yuvraj 27*, Wright 13*

An inside edge gets a boundary to Luke Wright who tries hard to push Pune’s scoring rate. The asking rate has gone past 11 as the Warriors need 46 more runs from four overs. Nine runs come off Ashish Nehra’s third.

PWI 110/2 | Overs 15 | Yuvraj 25*, Wright 7*

Luke Wright gets a boundary on the last ball off Umesh Yadav as six runs come from the 15th over of the game. Pune will be desperate for big overs.

PWI 104/2 | Overs 14 | Yuvraj 24*, Wright 2*

Yuvraj Singh is leading Pune Warriors’ recovery. He gets a boundary towards the fine leg area and good running between the wickets help Pune add eight more runs to the total. Pune need 61 runs in 36 balls.

PWI 96/2 | Overs 13 | Yuvraj 16*, Wright 2*

Yuvraj hits a fantastic cover drive for four off Irfan Pathan. He follows it up with a cut towards point on the second last ball of the over, and a misfield by David Warner gifts four extra runs to the Warriors.

PWI 85/2 | Overs 12 | Yuvraj 6*, Wright 1*

Yuvraj gets the first boundary of his innings off Shahbaz Nadeem as Pune Warriors add seven runs to their total. Pune need a further 80 runs in 48 balls.

PWI 78/2 | Overs 11 | Yuvraj 0*,  OUT! Uthappa 37(33) and Finch 39(33)

Double breakthroughs! Robin Uthappa flicks a wayward delivery off Irfan Pathan which was going down the leg, only to be caught by Unmukt Chand who covers a lot of field to take that. Pathan delivers double blow to the Pune Warriors as he gets Finch caught behind the wickets on the last ball.

PWI 75/0 | Overs 10 | Uthappa 37*,  Finch 36*

Uthappa and Finch can manage only four runs off Shahbaz Nadeem’s second over of the game.

PWI 71/0 | Overs 9 | Uthappa 34*,  Finch 35*

Only six runs come from Umesh Yadav’s second over of the game but Pune Warriors India look to be in complete control. Pune need a further 95 runs to win in 66 balls.

PWI 65/0 | Overs 8 | Uthappa 32*,  Finch 32*

Aaron Finch cuts towards the point region to slam a boundary off Shahbaz Nadeem. Three more singles make it seven from the over.

PWI 58/0 | Overs 7 | Uthappa 30*,  Finch 27*

An overthrow by Ben Rohrer at the non-striker’s end goes to the boundary as Pune collect additional four runs. Aaron Finch gets two more boundaries as Pune garner 15 runs from Irfan Pathan’s second over of the game.

PWI 43/0 | Overs 6 | Uthappa 29*,  Finch 13*

Aashish Nehra keeps it tight as Pune batsmen Finch and Uthappa can manage only six runs of it. Impressive start by the Warriors.

PWI 37/0 | Overs 5 | Uthappa 25*,  Finch 11*

Lucky for Aaron Finch as the first delivery off Morne Morkel takes a leading edge, drops short of Mahela Jayawardene at mid-off, who throws towards the non-striker’s end. Finch was far, far away but the ball misses the stumps. Uthappa clobbers a boundary on the last ball. Pune add 12 more runs to their total.

PWI 25/0 | Overs 4 | Uthappa 15*,  Finch 10*

Robin Uthappa clips it over the square leg area for a four as Pune add a further seven runs to their total.

PWI 18/0 | Overs 3 | Uthappa 10*,  Finch 8*

Robin Uthappa directs the ball towards the boundary past the first slip as Virender Sehwag fails to stop the ball. Another good over for Pune as eight runs come off Morne Morkel’s first.

PWI 10/0 | Overs 2 | Uthappa 3*,  Finch 7*

Aaron Finch hits towards the midwicket to collect four runs off the second ball by Umesh Yadav. Pune captain follows it up with a hit towards the covers for three runs. Uthappa too gets off the mark with a strike for three runs towards the midwicket region.

PWI 0/0 | Overs 1 | Uthappa 0*,  Finch 0*

Irfan Pathan starts with a maiden over as Robin Uthappa fails to get off the mark.

David Warner and Kedar Jadhav have fired Delhi to a strong total in a must-win game. Delhi scored 63 off the last five overs and this could prove costly to the Pune Warriors India. Warner races to 51 not out off 25 balls with the help of four sixes and as many boundaries. Delhi would be rueing for not sending him up in the order! Stay tuned for Pune’s chase…

DD 164/5 | Overs 20 | Warner 51*, Pathan 4* OUT! Jadhav 25(19)

Kedar Jadhav thrashes a six over the midwicket area but is caught on the third ball of the over by Ashok Dinda. Jadhav falls after 19-ball 25. Irfan Pathan smacks the last ball for four as Delhi add another 13 runs to their total to finish at 164 for five.

DD 151/4 | Overs 19 | Warner 51*, Jadhav 17*

David Warner thrashes two sixes and Kedar Jadhav one as the Daredevils race past the 150-run mark in the penultimate over of the innings by Kane Richardson. 21 runs come from it. Delhi have seized back the momentum in the last couple of overs. Warner completes his half-century as well!

DD 130/4 | Overs 18 | Warner 37*, Jadhav 10*

Delhi batsmen could manage only six runs off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s final over of the game. Bhuvneshwar finishes up with the figures of 4-0-30-0.

DD 124/4 | Overs 17 | Warner 36*, Jadhav 6*

David Warner gets three boundaries off Ashok Dinda to take the Daredevils to 124 for four after 17 overs. The left-handed explosive Australian batsman is the key to Delhi’s aspirations of setting up a big total.

DD 111/4 | Overs 16 | Warner 24*, Jadhav 5*

David Warner whips it over the deep midwicket boundary off compatriot Kane Richardson to collect a six. Delhi get 10 runs from the 16th over of the innings.

DD 101/4 | Overs 15 | Warner 16*, Jadhav 3*

Yuvraj Singh gives away only four runs as Delhi go past the 100-run mark in the 15th over.

DD 97/4 | Overs 14 | Warner 14*, Jadhav 1* OUT! Rohrer 13(13)

Abhishek Nayar gets rid of the dangerous Ben Rohrer to peg back the Daredevils on the penultimate ball of the 14th over. Rohrer tries to cut a delivery outside the off stump but gets an edge and Uthappa takes third catch of the innings.

DD 92/3 | Overs 13 | Warner 13*, Rohrer 10*

David Warner cracks a boundary towards the square leg area off Rahul Sharma on the fourth ball and follows it up with a six as Delhi start picking up after a slump.

DD 80/3 | Overs 12 | Warner 2*, Rohrer 9*

Ben Rohrer slams his first boundary of the game to start off and along with Warner he adds 10 runs to Delhi’s total.

DD 70/3 | Overs 11 | Warner 1*, Rohrer 1*  OUT! Chand 17(19)

Unmukt Chand’s gone! His poor run in the IPL 2013 tournament continues. The right-handed middle-order batsman cuts hard off Rahul Sharma, but the ball takes and edge and Uthappa does the rest. Delhi lose two key batsmen in quick succession.

DD 68/2 | Overs 10 | Chand 16*,  OUT! Sehwag 29(26)

Big wicket! Virender Sehwag goes for the pull shot but the ball brushes the handgloves and wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa takes a simple catch. Ashok Dinda keeps it tight and bags the big wicket.

DD 67/1 | Overs 9 | Chand 16*, Sehwag 28*

Tidy start from Yuvraj Singh as Delhi batsmen could manage only five singles from his first over.

DD 62/1 | Overs 8 | Chand 13*, Sehwag 26*

Virender Sehwag lifts it over the fine leg boundary to thrash the second six of his innings. Delhi are picking up after a slow start. Poor start by Luke Wright with the ball as he struggles with the line and length. The last ball is down the leg and Sehwag comfortably directs it to the fence. As many as 16 runs come of it.

DD 46/1 | Overs 7 | Chand 11*, Sehwag 15*

Unmukt Chand paddles down the third delivery off Rahul Sharma to collect a boundary as Delhi add a further nine runs in the seventh over.

DD 37/1 | Overs 6 | Chand 4*, Sehwag 13*

Virender Sehwag clobbers a straight six off the first ball and cuts towards the third man region for a boundary on the third to mark a good over for the Daredevils after a scratchy start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s third over of the game gets 13 runs for the home side Delhi.

DD 24/1 | Overs 5 | Chand 4*, Sehwag 1* OUT! Jayawardene 12(17)

Ashok Dinda provides Pune Warriors India the first breakthrough! Dinda gets Jayawardene chip an easy catch to Luke Wright at the extra cover position on the first ball of his spell. Unmukt Chand, who returned to the Daredevils side, hits over the third man region to collect a boundary off the last ball.

DD 20/0 | Overs 4 | Jayawardene 12*, Sehwag 2*

Young Aussie quick Kane Richardson troubles the Delhi openers with his pace and lateral movement and keeps the run count to only three from the over.

DD 17/0 | Overs 3 | Jayawardene 11*, Sehwag 1*

Jayawardene gets an inside edge but the ball is far off from the stumps and races down to the boundary. Bhuvneshwar bowls down the leg side and it races towards the fence. A good over for the Daredevils as nine runs come of it.

DD 8/0 | Overs 2 | Jayawardene 7*, Sehwag 1*

Mahela Jayawardene hits over the slip fielders off Kane Richardson on the first ball, and after that there is a long delay due to the sight screen not being up to the standard.

DD 3/0 | Overs 1 | Jayawardene 2*, Sehwag 1*

Impressive start by Pune Warriors India seamer Bhuneshwar Kumar as only three runs come of the first over.

Pune Warriors India captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to field against Delhi Daredevils in the 39th game of the IPL 2013 tournament.
