Kolkata: May 3, 2013

Kolkata Knight Riders produced an all-round show to thrash the Rajasthan Royals. But more importantly, they’d be happy with the performance of Yusuf Pathan after a long, long wait. But still, all not well for the Knight Riders as they need to win every game that is left.

KKR 133/2 | Overs 17.2 | Yusuf 49*,  Kallis 33*

Unlucky for Yusuf Pathan, as he’s stranded at 49 not out. Jacques Kallis lifts over Hogg’s head for a boundary as KKR register a comprehensive win.

KKR 129/2 | Overs 17 | Yusuf 49*,  Kallis 29*

Yusuf Pathan is nearing a well-made half-century and KKR need only four more runs to win this game.

KKR 121/2 | Overs 16 | Yusuf 43*,  Kallis 27*

Yusuf Pathan seems to have finally found his form back. He slaps it towards the midwicket area as KKR add another seven runs to their total. KKR need 12 to win from 24 balls.

KKR 114/2 | Overs 15 | Yusuf 37*,  Kallis 26*

James Faullker is waging a lone battle here as he bowls another tight over. Only three runs come off it, but KKR won’t be bothered. They need only 19 runs from 30 balls.

KKR 111/2 | Overs 14 | Yusuf 35*,  Kallis 25*

Jacques Kallis gets a boundary towards the backward point region on the first ball of the over, and KKR amass overall nine runs off Trivedi.

KKR 102/2 | Overs 13 | Yusuf 33*,  Kallis 19*

Impressive comeback by James Faulkner as he gives away only two runs in his third over of the game.

KKR 100/2 | Overs 12 | Yusuf 32*,  Kallis 18*

Yusuf Pathan clobbers his third six of the match as KKR are closing in on a comfortable win. The Knight Riders cross the 100-run mark and now need only 33 runs from 48 balls.

KKR 90/2 | Overs 11 | Yusuf 24*,  Kallis 16*

Pathan is looking in good nick as he slams a six over the long-on boundary. KKR are cruising towards a comfortable win.

KKR 82/2 | Overs 10 | Yusuf 17*,  Kallis 15*

Yusuf Pathan gets a boundary towards the third man region on the fifth ball off Siddharth Trivedi as Kolkata add another seven runs to their total.

KKR 75/2 | Overs 9 | Yusuf 11*,  Kallis 14*

Jacques Kallis slams a six on the first ball off Hogg, who keeps bowling full-tosses in the remainder of the over but is lucky enough to not leak a lot of runs. KKR are cruising as they reach 75 for two.

KKR 65/2 | Overs 8 | Yusuf 9*,  Kallis 6* OUT! Bisla 29(25)

Ankeet Chavan strikes to remove Manvinder Bisla. The KKR opener tries to nudge towards the leg side but the ball takes a leading edge and Ajinkya Rahane takes a good catch. The new man in, Yusuf Pathan clobbers a six over the bowlers head on the fourth ball as KKR add another 10 runs to their total.

KKR 55/1 | Overs 7 | Bisla 29*,  Kallis 5*

Another seven runs added to the total off Brad Hogg’s first over of the game.

KKR 48/1 | Overs 6 | Bisla 26*,  Kallis 3*  OUT! Gambhir 12(14)

Big wicket! After their verbal battle, Shane Watson enjoys the last laugh as he gets the KKR skipper stumped by wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik, who was lightening fast to take the bails off as Gambhir’s leg was out of the crease.

KKR 40/0 | Overs 5 | Bisla 26*,  Gambhir 12*

Bisla once again comes down the wicket to hit over the fielder at the midwicket area for a boundary. Only five runs conceeded.

KKR 35/0 | Overs 4 | Bisla 22*,  Gambhir 11*

Sloppy work from the Rajasthan Royals in the field as KKR add another 10 to their total. Bisla fails to connect properly and James Faulkner tried to take the catch, but the ball runs away to the boundary.  The KKR opener follows it up with another towards the point region.

KKR 25/0 | Overs 3 | Bisla 12*,  Gambhir 11*

Manvinder Bisla dances down the track to smash a six off Chavan and four more singles get 10 runs in the third over of the innings for KKR.

KKR 15/0 | Overs 2 | Bisla 5*,  Gambhir 8*

Another good over for the Knight Riders as seven runs come off James Faulkner’s first.

KKR 8/0 | Overs 1 | Bisla 5*,  Gambhir 2*

Manvinder Bisla sweeps over the deep square leg boundary to mark a good start for the Knight Riders, as eight runs come off Ankeet Chavan’s first over.

Kolkata Knight Riders will be chuffed with their effort with the ball, and now they will have to chase down the modest total of 133.

RR 132/5 | Overs 20 | Binny 3*,  Dravid 6*  OUT! Shah 24(22)

Jacques Kallis cleans up Owais Shah on the third ball. Rahul Dravid finally walks in the gets a boundary off the first ball.

RR 123/5 | Overs 19 | Binny 3*, Shah 22*

Sunil Narine delivers an impressive penultimate over as Rajasthan manage only four runs off it.

RR 119/5 | Overs 18 | Binny 1*, Shah 20* OUT! Samson 40(36)

Sanju Samson tries to clear the midwicket area with a big hit but doesn’t put enough power in the shot, and is caught after scoring a valuable 40. KKR in control as they haven’t allowed RR batsmen to flourish.

RR 115/4 | Overs 17 | Samson 39*, Shah 18*

Manvinder Bisla drops a simple catch off Narine to dismiss the on-song Sanju Samson on the first ball. A boundary off the four ball by Owais Shah towards the point region helps Rajasthan add another seven to their total.

RR 108/4 | Overs 16 | Samson 37*, Shah 13*

Rajasthan batsmen scamper for six runs as Rajat Bhatia keeps things quiet in his third over of the game.

RR 102/4 | Overs 15 | Samson 34*, Shah 10*

The Royals cross the 100-run mark in the 15th over of the innings. Sunil Narine’s second over of the game yields five runs.

RR 97/4 | Overs 14 | Samson 32*, Shah 7*

Owais Shah gets a boundary towards the cover region as Rajasthan add seven more runs to their total. RR need big partnership now.

RR 90/4 | Overs 13 | Samson 31*, Shah 1* OUT! Yagnik 10(6)

Sachithra Senanayake gets his second wicket as Dishant Yagnik drags the spinner’s shortish delivery onto his stumps. Yagnik looks disappointed with himself walking back, and rightly so. Owais Shah is the new batsman; still no Rahul Dravid! Sanju Samson then calms a few nerves with a big slog for six over deep mid-wicket.

RR 79/3 | Overs 12 | Samson 25*, Yagnik 6*

Rajat Bhatia comes into the attack and bowls well; just four runs come from it. This is a crucial stage in the match and KKR have a good chance to take the driver’s seat.

RR 75/3 | Overs 11 | Samson 23*, Yagnik 4*  OUT! Watson 35(35)

As is the norm from KKR, Sunil Narine gets a bowl in the second half of the innings and the mystery spinner strikes straight away. Shane Watson survives a leg-before appeal that looked out to the naked eye, but the umpire didn’t think so. However, Narine was to get his man soon enough with the wrong ‘un that was plumb. Big wicket for KKR.

RR 71/2 | Overs 10 | Samson 23*, Watson 35*

Another good over for the Royals as nine runs come off Kallis’s second in the game.

RR 62/2 | Overs 9 | Samson 18*, Watson 33*

Samson launches the ball over the midwicket boundary to register the first six of the match, off Abdulla. Watson too join in with a boundary. Another good over for the Royals as 15 runs come off it.

RR 47/2 | Overs 8 | Samson 10*, Watson 26*

Sanju Samson punches it towards the cover region off Jacques Kallis as Rajasthan add eight runs from that over.

RR 39/2 | Overs 7 | Samson 5*, Watson 20*

Abdulla keeps it tight as Rajasthan batsmen collect only five more runs off the seventh over.

RR 34/2 | Overs 6 | Samson 3*, Watson 20*

Sachithra Senanayake’s third over of the game gets only six runs for the Rajasthan Royals. KKR have begun on a good note and they’d like to keep the momentum towards their side.

RR 28/2 | Overs 5 | Samson 1*, Watson 18* OUT! Faulkner 1(4)

Iqbal Abdulla gets a wicket in his first over as Rajasthan’s move to promote James Faulkner backfires with the Australian all-rounder falling cheaply. Abdualla gets Faulkner to drive but the batsman is deceived by the turn, and gives a simple catch to Gautam Gambhir.

RR 26/1 | Overs 4 | Faulkner 1*, Watson 17* OUT! Rahane 6(10)

Sachithra Senayake strikes to remove Ajinkya Rahane, whose slump from a good run in intial matches continues as he goes out after scoring six. Rahane dances down the track but misses the ball completely, and wicketkeeper Manvinder Bisla is smart enough to dislodge the bails before Rahane could get back in the crease.

RR 20/0 | Overs 3 | Rahane 6*, Watson 12*

Sumit Narwal struggles with his line as bowls two consecutvie wides down the leg side, and when he gets it right, Shane Watson slams two boundaries to mark a good over for the Royals.

RR 8/0 | Overs 2 | Rahane 5*, Watson 3*

Rajasthan openers scamper for three singles as Sachithra Senanayake begins on an impressive note on a slow track.

RR 5/0 | Overs 1 | Rahane 4*, Watson 1*

Ajinkya Rahane hits the first boundary of the game on the fourth ball towards midwicket off Sumit Narwal.
