MI 133/9 | Overs 19.1 | Malinga 1* OUT! Harbhajan 5(8)
Adam Gilchrist bowls the last over! Finally some entertainment here! Praveen Kumar picks up the wicket-keeping gloves. And Gilly gets a wicket!!! Oh, my word!! Harbhajan swings single-handedly and finds the long-on fielder to give Adam Gilchrist a wicket! Dhawal Kulkarni chooses not to come out with his side strain and that’s the end of the match. If ever there was a way to sign off in style, it was that!
KXIP win by 50 runs.
MI 133/8 | Overs 19 | Harbhajan 5*, Malinga 1* OUT! Coulter-Nile 9(6)
Azhar Hahmood cleans up debutant Nathan Coulter-Nile with a yorker to take Punjab closer to an academic win. Mahmood becomes the fourth bowler to take 200 wickets in T20 cricket. Even though they have beeen knocked out of contention for the playoffs, bowling out the Mumbai Indians would be an ideal way to sign off.
MI need 51 runs from 6 balls.
MI 130/7 | Overs 18 | Harbhajan 3*, Coulter-Nile 9*
Mumbai crawl on towards defeat, with just four runs coming from the first five balls, before Coulter-Nile pulls Sandeep Sharma neatly over mid-wicket for six. Too little, too late, you’d think.
MI need 54 runs from 12 balls.
MI 120/7 | Overs 17 | Harbhajan 1*, Coulter-Nile 1* OUT! Dhawan 14(15)
Rishi Dhawan is given leg-before off a delivery that definitely looked going down the leg. He is livid as he walks back. Not that the wicket would have made any difference to the result.
MI need 64 runs from 18 balls.
MI 117/6 | Overs 16 | Dhawan 11*, Harbhajan 0* OUT! Pollard 22(21)
Sandeep Sharma’s yorker goes for four leg-byes, before Kieron Pollard holes out to long-off off a no-ball! Pollard lofts the free hit high again and Piyush Chawla takes his second catch that won’t be counted. However, Pollard changes his angle and hits it straight to long-on this time and David Miller ensures Punjab have their man this time around! Phew! KXIP will feel they are past the line now.
MI need 67 runs from 24 balls.
MI 107/5 | Overs 15 | Pollard 19*, Dhawan 11*
Kieron Pollard brings up the 100th six for the Mumbai Indians — the highest tally of the tournament — with a massive pull over deep mid-wicket! That was coming, and MI will hope there is more! Dhawan also gets another boundary in the over.
MI need 77 runs from 30 balls.
MI 91/5 | Overs 14 | Pollard 10*, Dhawan 4*
Kieron Pollard scores his first boundary with a slick flick of the wrists for four down to fine-leg. Is this the moment of release for Pollard? Mumbai will surely hope so!
MI 83/5 | Overs 13 | Pollard 3*, Dhawan 4*
Rishi Dhawan gets his first boundary with a hopping pull to the deep square-leg fence. Mumbai need many more of these from here on.
MI 78/5 | Overs 12 | Pollard 2*, Dhawan 0* OUT! Rohit 25(25)
Rohit Sharma timing and placement goes awry in a jiffy! First, he hits Piyush Chawla straight to cover, where David Miller drops a simple low catch, before Chawla cleans up the Mumbai skipper with a top-spinner which he tried to cut too close to the body. Mumbai in trouble!
MI 76/4 | Overs 11 | Rohit 24*, Pollard 1*
Rohit Sharma plays a stylish cover-drive off Azhar Mahmood that goes racing away for four. What timing! Perfect to the tee!
MI 69/4 | Overs 10 | Rohit 18*, Pollard 0* OUT! D Karthik 0(3)
Piyush Chawla tosses it up to Rohit Chawla, who creams it straight down over the sightscreen for six. What a shot! However, Dinesh Karthik then gives a simple return catch to the leg-spinner to put Punjab back in front. What’s happening here? Impossible to call this game!
MI 62/3 | Overs 9 | Rohit 11*, D Karthik 0* OUT! Rayudu 26(22)
Parvinder Awana gets rid of Ambati Rayudu after the batsman goes for a pull off a short-pitched delivery, but finds the faint edge that is taken by the keeper.
MI 59/2 | Overs 8 | Rayudu 25*, Rohit 9*
Piyush Chawla comes in and bowls a second tidy over for Punjab, giving away just three runs.

MI 37/2 | Overs 5 | Rayudu 12*, Rohit 0*
Ambati Rayudu steps down the track to Praveen Kumar and drives him to the wide long-on fence for four. That shot will give him a lot of confidence! He’s got a good opportunity to shine after being promoted up the over.
MI 27/2 | Overs 4 | Rayudu 5*, Rohit 0* OUT! Tare 22(12)
Aditya Tare drives Sandeep Sharma over long-on for six, before losing his woodwork going for a cover drive off a ball that was too close to his body. Poor way to lose a wicket; he will be disappointed.
MI 18/1 | Overs 3 | Tare 15*, Rayudu 3*
Aditya Tare drives Praveen Kumar off his legs past mid-off for a boundary to ruin Praveen Kumar’s over. Tare is looking in good touch; no signs so far of the cramps that he got in his first game.
MI 13/1 | Overs 2 | Tare 11*, Rayudu 2*
Aditya Tare brings up the 600th six of the tournament with a mighty heave over deep mid-wicket off the bowling of Azhar Mahmood. Tare follows it up with a cracking cut between point and cover for four more.
MI 2/1 | Overs 1 | Tare 1*, Rayudu 1* OUT! Maxwell 0(3)
The million-dollar man is out for a duck! Glenn Maxwell goes for the big swing down the leg-side and gets the leading edge that goes high in the air towards third-man where Manan Vohra takes an easy catch. Ideal start for Praveen Kumar and Punjab.
KXIP 183/8 | Overs 20 | Vohra 20* OUT! Gurkeerat 0(1), Chawla 1(2), Praveen 0(1)
Lasith Malinga gets his second leg-before of the day as he traps Gurkeerat Singh with a scorching delivery. Manan Vohra then makes room for himself to negate the lbw and spanks Malinga over long-off for six. Piyush Chawla then runs himself out by refusing to ground his bat. Malinga then gets his 100th IPL wicket on the last ball of the innings by bowling Praveen Kumar. He’s recovered from none for 20 in one over to figures of 4-0-39-3.
KXIP 174/5 | Overs 19 | Vohra 13* OUT! Miller 6(5)

KXIP 164/4 | Overs 18 | Miller 1*, Vohra 8* OUT! Mahmood 80(44)

KXIP 156/3 | Overs 17 | Mahmood 80*, Miller 0* OUT! Marsh 63(47)
Harbhajan Singh is spanked for a four and a six off the first two balls of his over by Azhar Mahmood. However, the off-spinner dismisses Shaun Marsh soon after. The Australian goes for the mighty slog-sweep, but misses the ball completely and is bowled.
KXIP 143/2 | Overs 16 | Mahmood 68*, Marsh 63*
Shaun Marsh beautifully lofts Rishi Dhawan over the top for four straight down the ground. You can’t hit ‘em straighter than that!
KXIP 131/2 | Overs 15 | Mahmood 63*, Marsh 58*
The run fest continues at Dharamsala as Azhar Mahmood ruins Nathan Coulter-Nile’s over with boundaries off the last two balls.
KXIP 119/2 | Overs 14 | Mahmood 53*, Marsh 56*
Azhar Mahmood mistimes a hook off Rishi Dhawan as the ball goes high in the air towards the fine-leg fence. Nathan Coulter-Nile runs behind it and reaches under it, but spills. What’s worse, Mumbai concede overthrows. Then, later in the over, another catch is dropped at long-on by Harbhajan Singh. This has been a torrid last 10 overs for Mumbai.
KXIP 108/2 | Overs 13 | Mahmood 50*, Marsh 50*
Azhar Mahmood makes a mockery of IPL’s million-dollar baby as he spanks 6 + 6 + 4 in Glenn Maxwell’s first over. Both Punjab batsmen reach their half-centuries in the over.

KXIP 63/2 | Overs 8 | Mahmood 21*, Marsh 34*
It’s Lasith Malinga’s turn to get taken apart after being brought into the attack as Azhar Mahmood hits a six and two boundaries to get Punjab out of the blues. 20 runs come from the over.
KXIP 43/2 | Overs 7 | Mahmood 2*, Marsh 34*
Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack and bowls a decent over untill the last ball, which is short and spins away from Marsh, who easily cuts it through the off-side for a boundary. He’s looking really good here!
KXIP 35/2 | Overs 6 | Mahmood 0*, Marsh 28*
Dhawal Kulkarni comes into the attack and is taken apart by Shaun Marsh. First, Marsh merely pushes the ball past a diving mid-off fielder for four. Kulkarni goes wide and short, and Marsh cuts it fine for four more. Dhawal then changes his line to straighter, but short enough for Marsh to pull it for another boundary. Kulkarni has had enough of this spanking and walks off the field with an apparent side-strain. Rohit Sharma comepletes the over.
KXIP 22/2 | Overs 5 | Mahmood 0*, Marsh 15*
Shaun Marsh goes on with his march as he reaches out to a delivery outside off and somehow manages to drag it to through the leg-side and find the boundary. Coulter-Nile has bowled three consecutive overs.
KXIP 16/2 | Overs 4 | Mahmood 0*, Marsh 10*

KXIP 11/2 | Overs 3 | Mahmood 0*, Marsh 5* OUT! Gilchrist 6(7)
Adam Gilchrist spanks Nathan Coulter-Nile down the ground for four off the first ball to give Punjab hope of a parting gift. But the debutant strikes back straight away, knocking down the off-stump of the veteran batsman after a pull goes awry. The ball didn’t bounce as much as Gilly would have expected, but tant pis! He has to go!
KXIP 2/1 | Overs 2 | Gilchrist 1*, Mahmood 0* OUT! Mandeep 1(5)
Local boy Rishi Dhawan comes into the attack and gets a wicket straight away! Mandeep Singh flicks the ball straight to the safe(?) hands of Kieron Pollard. Dhawan goes on to bowl a wicket-maiden. Top start!
