Rahane and Samson are dealing in singles here. Only five come off the over but the asking rate is not much. Five runs from the over.
RR: 130/2 | Overs 17 | Rahane 57*, Samson 33*
Talk about confidence! The young Samson shuffles a bit and manages to guide a ball on his middle-stump to the third man boundary. Awana can only offer a wry smile. Rahane brought up his half-century with a pull shot for a single to deep backward point. He is now seems to be in a hurry. He follows it up with a six over long on. Just 16 to win from 18 balls.
RR: 117/2 | Overs 16 | Rahane 49*, Samson 28*
Sloppy bowling from Praveen Kumar. He fires it down the leg side for a wide and Adam GIlchrist fails to collect the ball cleanly, allowing the batsmen to steal a single. These two are doing it smartly here. Samson punishes a full toss delivery for a boundary through mid wicket and follow it up with a quick single. 12 runs from the over.

Another tight over. Adam Gilchrist will be pleased. Piyush Chawla has given away just three runs. Rahane and Samson need to remember that they donot have Stuart Binny to come and play a quickfire cameo to take them home. They will need to kick on from here. 48 required from the last eight overs.
RR: 95/2 | Overs 13 | Rahane 46*, Samson 12*

Gilchrist brings back Awana into the attack. Samson and Rahane collect nine runs from it.
RR: 73/2 | Overs 10 | Rahane 37*, Samson 1* OUT! Watson 31 (25)
Piyush Chawla stuns Shane Watson with a quicker one! One of the quickest ones, in fact. That was bowled at 117 kmph. Watson tries to pull a short delivery expecting the ball to come at a much slower pace but it goes through to hit the stumps. This comes after Watson had hit Chawla for a six off the first delivery. The wicket opens the game up.
RR: 65/1 | Overs 9 | Rahane 26*, Watson 25*

RR: 38/1 | Overs 6 | Rahane 18*, Watson 16*
Shane Watson shows murderous intent with yet another cracking shot through point as he sends Praveen Kumar’s second delivery of the over to the fence. Both the batsmen lead a steady chase minimising the risks.
RR: 31/1 | Overs 5 | Rahane 17*, Watson 10*
Rajasthan start shifting gears. Ajinkya Rahane miscues a pull in the second ball as the ball stays in air for some time, but lands safely. Shane Watson hits a cracking shot just wide of the covers for a superb boundary in the next ball. Rahane hits a more classic punch through covers off the last ball.
RR: 20/1 | Overs 4 | Rahane 12*, Watson 4*
Rajasthan continue at a steady pace scoring four singles in the first five balls and a boundary off the last ball of the over.

RR: 4/0 | Overs 1 | Dravid 4*, Rahane 0*
Rahul Dravid starts with a boundary through the offside. Praveen Kumar offers a bit of width and Dravid finds the gap. He goes after another short delivery but misses it. Four runs come in the first over.
KXIP: 145/6 | Overs 20 | Sathish 4*, Chawla 1* OUT! Gony 3 (3)
James Faulkner ends the innings on a wonderful note. Only eight runs from the last over and the wicket of Manpreet Gony. A disciplined performances from the Rajasthan Royals on a slow wicket in scorching heat is commendable.
KXIP: 137/5 | Overs 19 | Gony 1* OUT! Marsh 77 (64) Miller 8 (11)
Cooper has done very well in taking the pace off the ball. He strikes twice! Excellent stuff this from Cooper. He sends back Shaun Marsh with the latter failing to read a leg cutter. He then bowls another slower delivery to Miller who goes for a big shot but doesn’t connect well and gives a simple catch to Ajinkya Rahane at long on.
KXIP: 134/3 | Overs 18 | Marsh 76*, Miller 7*
Shane Watson finishes with tidy figures of one for 19 . Hard to believe its the same guy who gave up bowling for the Indian tour. He gives just seven off his last over.
KXIP: 127/3 | Overs 17 | Marsh 75*, Miller 2*
DROPPED! Rahul Dravid misses what seemed like a straightfoward catch. Could have been the case of not sighting the ball with the sun right in his eyes. Anyway, Marsh survives. Seven runs come from Cooper’s third over.
KXIP: 120/3 | Overs 16 | Marsh 69* Miller 1*
Marsh slams Faulkner for a six over long-on and a boundary of the penultimate ball to take 13 runs off the over.
KXIP: 107/3 | Overs 15 | Marsh 57* Miller 0* OUT! Hussey 1 (3)
David Hussey is cleaned up by Shane Watson! The ball moved slightly into Hussey who was looking to play an expansive stroke, missed it altogether and saw his middle-stump pegged back. The wicket brought out David Miller, the hero from the previous match. Can he repeat the juggernaut?
KXIP: 104/2 | Overs 14 | Marsh 53* OUT! Gilchrist 42 (32)
Cooper strikes to send back Gilchrist! Slower delivery claims another delivery as Gilchrist gives a simple catch to the bowler. One of those 40-plus innings that has been bereft of a six. When was the last time that happened for the Australian? Anyway, he is back in the pavilion now. He did well to construct the Punjab innings alongside Marsh. Cooper bowls a tidy over with varying pace. He gets a wicket and concedes just four runs.
KXIP: 100/1 | Overs 13 | Gilchrist 41*, Marsh 53*
Another good over spoiled by a ball drifting down Shaun Marsh’s pads. He dispatches it for a boundary. It brings up his half-century and the team’s 100. It also brings up the 100-run partnership between the duo. Now is surely a time for either to attack
KXIP: 93/1 | Overs 12 | Gilchrist 40*, Marsh 47*
It is still hard to say ‘Gilchrist is back!’ He has put on a good partnership with Marsh here but nothing Gilchristy about his innings yet. He is swinging his bat but not connected like he would have liked to. Meanwhile, Marsh puts away a delivery on his legs to the fine leg boundary. It went off his pads. A good over ruined by that last delivery. Eight runs from it.
KXIP: 85/1 | Overs 11 | Gilchrist 38*, Marsh 45*
Trivedi starts with a short delivery and Marsh gets behind very well to hit to the square leg boundary. A good over for Punjab, 11 runs from it.

Adam Gilchrist scores another boundary but Shane Watson concedes just three runs off the remaining five deliveries.
KXIP: 51/1 | Overs 7 | Gilchrist 25*, Marsh 26*
Shaun Marsh goes after Chandila. He comes down the track and hits lovely six over long on and follows it up with another straight shot for a boundary. Punjab take 14 runs off the over to take the team total past 50. Chandila finishes his quota of four overs with figures of one for 24.
KXIP: 37/1 | Overs 6 | Gilchrist 24*, Marsh 13*
Gilchrist guides the ball past the keeper but only just. On a different day, he would have been walking back to the dug out. He follows it up with a similar shot, this time better placed. James Faulkner starts off with an expensive over. Nine runs from it.
KXIP: 28/1 | Overs 5 | Gilchrist 15*, Marsh 13*
Chandila bowls another miserly over. Gilchrist and Marsh can only take four singles off it.
KXIP: 24/1 | Overs 4 | Gilchrist 13*, Marsh 11*
Adam Gilchrist his channelising his anger from the previous over. He pulls a short delivery from Sreesanth behind point for a boundary and follows it up with a straight back shot for another four. A good over for the home side.
KXIP: 11/1 | Overs 3 | Gilchrist 5*, Marsh 6*
Chandila bowls another tidy over, not without some drama at the end. He angers Gilchrist by dislodging the bails after a throw at the non-strikers’ end hits Gilchrist. Rahul Dravid had to intervene and apologize.
KXIP: 6/1 | Overs 2 | Gilchrist 4*, Marsh 2*
Adam Gilchrist is off to a positive start. He ends a good over from Sreesanth with a boundary through covers.
KXIP: 1/1 | Overs 1 | Gilchrist 0*, Marsh 1* OUT! Mandeep Singh 0 (3)
Horrible start for Punjab! Ajit Chandila strikes off his first over again! He tempts Mandeep to free his arms and the latter ends up hitting it straight to Chandila. A simple caught and bowled. What a start for Rahul Dravid’s side. Will this add more pressure on Adam Gilchrist? Meanwhile, Chandila has finished the first over with just one run off it.
Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bat first against Kings XI Punjab on a hot sunny day at Mohali.
The news from the centre is Adam Gilchrist comes back to lead the Punjab side. Very brave move, that, given the situation the team is in. He comes in for Michael Neser. Bipul Sharma earns his IPL debut.
The visitors are weakened by the exclusion of Stuart Binny who is injured. They have brought back Dishant Yagnik, Ajit Chandila, S Sreesanth and Kevon Cooper.
