Ajit Chandila, the man who took the prized scalps of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting last time out, bowls the first over, but fails to break through Chris Gayle and T Dilshan. He bowls a tidy over though, keeping a tight line.
Rajasthan Royals do not manage to bat out their 20 overs and are bowled out for 117 in the last over by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was a tremendous collapse after being 105 for four in just the 16th over. RCB should have no problems chasing this total on a pitch that looks good for batting.
RP Singh’s great spell gets even better as James Faulkner hits him straight to Ravi Rampaul at long-on who takes a diving catch. Rampaul is then brought in the circle for Dishant Yagnik and the left-hander holes out straight to the West Indian to give him his third catch of the evening.
Brad Hodge, who had eaten up 17 deliveries for his 10, decides to let loose with a cover drive that goes wide of extra cover. However, the bowler has the last laugh as Hodge gets the faint edge through to the ‘keeper, trying to guide it to third man.
Rahul Dravid sweeps Murali Kartik for a boundary between a very fine deep square-leg and deep mid-wicket. Kartik isn’t pleased and yells at the RP Singh for being too fine for the former’s liking. However, Dravid then holes out to long-on, trying to clear the fielder to give Kartik some respite. The second Strategic Timeout is taken at the fall of the wicket.

The Rajasthan opener mistimes his uppish cover drive and the ball loops over to the area between gully and point, as Tillakaratne Dilshan takes an easy catch. RCB will be pleased with their exploits so far as the Powerplay ends.

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has won the toss against the Rajasthan Royals and elected to take field.
“The dew will play a big factor in the second innings and that is why we will bowl,” says Kohli at the toss. Rahul Dravid agrees: “It looks like a good wicket and we would have bowled first.”
