RCB 78/3 | Overs 11 | Gayle 29*, S Tiwary 1*

Shaun Tait comes in for another go and gets spanked for 11 runs. He has been wayward and looked hapless tonight, and isn’t likely to get a fourth over.

RCB 67/3 | Overs 10 | Gayle 24*, S Tiwary 0*

Siddharth Trivedi comes into the attack and bowls a neat over, giving away just three runs.

RCB 64/3 | Overs 9 | Gayle 23*, S Tiwary 0* OUT! de Villiers 7(8)

AB de Villiers plays a glorious cover-drive off Shane Watson, before stepping out and smacking him straight to mid-on. Needless shot from the South African and Rajasthan might just be sniffing an unlikely win. The first Strategic Timeout is taken.

RCB 58/2 | Overs 8 | Gayle 23*, de Villiers 1* OUT! Kohli 1(2)

James Faulkner gets the huge wicket of Virat Kohli! The Orange Cap holder fails to judge the line of Faulkner’s incoming delivery from over the wicket and gets the inside edge onto the stumps. Is there a way back for Rajasthan Royals?

RCB 53/1 | Overs 7 | Gayle 21*, Kohli 0* OUT! Dilshan 25(22)

Shane Watson decides to roll his arm over for the first time this year after deciding to switch off his bowling prior to Australia’s tour of India in February. Chris Gayle welcomes the Australian into the attack by whacking him to the extra cover fence. However, Dilshan gives Watson his first wicket after edging the medium-pacer to the wicketkeeper.

RCB 46/0 | Overs 6 | Gayle 16*, Dilshan 25*

James Faulkner bowls a good second over, giving away just two runs. Rajasthan need wickets, though.

RCB 46/0 | Overs 5 | Gayle 15*, Dilshan 24*

Tillakaratne Dilshan waits for a short delivery from Shaun Tait and pulls it magnificently wide of square-leg for another boundary. Tait’s over gets worse after he bowls a howler way down the leg-side that the ‘keeper fails to collect and the ball rolls along to the rope for five wides. Gayle makes it 15 off the over with a nice flick off the pads to the fence.

RCB 31/0 | Overs 4 | Gayle 10*, Dilshan 19*

Tillakaratne Dilshan gently flicks James Faulkner off his pads past short fine leg for four. The aggressive Sri Lankan batsman then gets a tall cut past point for four more off the last ball of the over.

RCB 21/0 | Overs 3 | Gayle 9*, Dilshan 10*

Chris Gayle gets his first boundary with a nice backfoot punch through to the extra-cover fence. Shaun Tait then fires it in at 149kmph and beats Gayle’s edge by a whisker.

RCB 13/0 | Overs 2 | Gayle 4*, Dilshan 9*

Tillakaratne Dilshan punishes S Sreesanth’s delivery drifting down the leg, flicking it off his legs for four to the deep square-leg fence. Dilshan gets another boundary to long-on to end a good over for the hosts.

RCB 4/0 | Overs 1 | Gayle 3*, Dilshan 1*

Ajit Chandila, the man who took the prized scalps of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting last time out, bowls the first over, but fails to break through Chris Gayle and T Dilshan. He bowls a tidy over though, keeping a tight line.

RR 117 | Overs 19.4 | Chandila 4* OUT! Trivedi 3(6)

Rajasthan Royals do not manage to bat out their 20 overs and are bowled out for 117 in the last over by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was a tremendous collapse after being 105 for four in just the 16th over. RCB should have no problems chasing this total on a pitch that looks good for batting.

RR 114/9 | Overs 19 | Chandila 3*, Trivedi 1* OUT! Tait 1(3)

RP SIngh shatters Shaun Tait’s woodwork and the Royals are in danger of not batting through their 20 overs — a crime on this track.

RR 112/8 | Overs 18 | Chandila 2*, Tait 1* OUT! Sreesanth 0(2)

Vinay Kumar traps S Sreesanth leg-before to dampen the Royals’ mood. Just two runs are scored of the 18th over as RCB find themselves firmly on top.

RR 110/7 | Overs 17 | Chandila 0*, Sreesanth 0* OUT! Faulkner 3(7), OUT! Yagnik 5(4)

RP Singh’s great spell gets even better as James Faulkner hits him straight to Ravi Rampaul at long-on who takes a diving catch. Rampaul is then brought in the circle for Dishant Yagnik and the left-hander holes out straight to the West Indian to give him his third catch of the evening.

RR 108/5 | Overs 16 | Yagnik 4*, Faulkner 3* OUT! Hodge 13(17)

Brad Hodge, who had eaten up 17 deliveries for his 10, decides to let loose with a cover drive that goes wide of extra cover. However, the bowler has the last laugh as Hodge gets the faint edge through to the ‘keeper, trying to guide it to third man.

RR 101/4 | Overs 15 | Hodge 9*, Yagnik 4*  OUT! Dravid 35(31)

Rahul Dravid sweeps Murali Kartik for a boundary between a very fine deep square-leg and deep mid-wicket. Kartik isn’t pleased and yells at the RP Singh for being too fine for the former’s liking. However, Dravid then holes out to long-on, trying to clear the fielder to give Kartik some respite. The second Strategic Timeout is taken at the fall of the wicket.

RR 90/3 | Overs 14 | Dravid 29*, Hodge 8*

Jaidev Unadkat bowls well for the first four deliveries of his last over, before Rahul Dravid sends the ball racing away straight down the ground for four.

RR 81/3 | Overs 13 | Dravid 22*, Hodge 6*

Rahul Dravid clears his front leg, gives himself room and swats Murali Kartik to the long-on fence for four. Much-needed boundary for the Royals. They need more such strokes.

RR 74/3 | Overs 12 | Dravid 17*, Hodge 4*

Jaidev Unadkat continues with his superb bowling and gives away just four runs as the Rajasthan Royals begin to feel the pressure. They need to double their score in eight overs to be on par.

RR 70/3 | Overs 11 | Dravid 15*, Hodge 2*

Murali Kartik comes in for a second over and bowls a tidy one, giving away just four runs.

RR 66/3 | Overs 10 | Dravid 12*, Hodge 0* OUT! Binny 33(20)

Stuart Binny goes for the pull and dispatches Vinay Kumar’s shortish delivery to the long-on fence. Kumar bowls shorter and Binny goes for the hook, but gets the leading edge that sends the ball high in the air behind the ‘keeper. Arun Karthik runs back and takes the catch. End of a sweet cameo from Binny Jr.

RR 60/2 | Overs 9 | Dravid 12*, Binny 28*

Stuart Binny cracks a beautiful cover drive off Murali Kartik, before sweeping the left-arm spinner for a flat six over deep backward square-leg. Another thirteen-run over for the Royals from Rajasthan, all of which are scored by Binny who is playing a nice little cameo here.

RR 47/2 | Overs 8 | Dravid 12*, Binny 15*

Stuart Binny plays a crunching cover drive off Jaidev Unadkat for four. That shot really deserved at least eight! Rahul Dravid then comes in and swats the left-hander off his backfoot to the deep mid-wicket fence fo four more. Thirteen runs come off the over as the first Strategic Timeout is taken.

RR 34/2 | Overs 7 | Dravid 7*, Binny 7*

Vinay Kumar comes into the attack and bowls a tidy over, conceding just three runs. RR need to pick up their run-rate as anything under 160 will be Game Over on this pitch.

RR 31/2 | Overs 6 | Dravid 6*, Binny 5*  OUT! Rahane 14(13)

Jaidev Unadkat comes into the attack and dismisses Ajinkya Rahane straight away. The Rajasthan opener mistimes his uppish cover drive and the ball loops over to the area between gully and point, as Tillakaratne Dilshan takes an easy catch. RCB will be pleased with their exploits so far as the Powerplay ends.

RR 25/1 | Overs 5 | Rahane 14*, Dravid 5*

Rahul Dravid gets his first boundary, albeit scratchily, via a mistimed drive that goes wide od mid-on. Ajinkya Rahane then gives the West Indian the charge and swats him for a maximum over widish long-on.

RR 14/1 | Overs 4 | Rahane 8*, Dravid 0*

Ajinkya Rahane lofts RP Singh over mid-on for his second boundary. He is timing the ball really well here and RCB could get into trouble if he gets going.

RR 10/1 | Overs 3 | Rahane 4*, Dravid 0* OUT! Watson 6(9)

Shane Watson tries to swat Ravi Rampaul over mid-on, but Murali Kartik times his jump to perfection and takes the catch. Big wicket for the Royal Challengers, as the local hero Rahul Dravid comes out to bat for the opposition team among loud cheers. Rampaul, meanwhile, gets a wicket-maiden.

RR 10/0 | Overs 2 | Watson 6*, Rahane 4*

Ajinkya Rahane elegantly cuts RP Singh past point for a boundary. Again, five runs come off the over.

RR 5/0 | Overs 1 | Watson 5*, Rahane 0*

Ravi Rampaul, the hero of RCB’s Super Over win in their last game, drifts down the leg first up and Shane Watson has no qualms flicking it off the pads to the vacant deep square-leg fence. Rampaul recovers well to give away just one more run in the over.

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has won the toss against the Rajasthan Royals and elected to take field.

“The dew will play a big factor in the second innings and that is why we will bowl,” says Kohli at the toss. Rahul Dravid agrees: “It looks like a good wicket and we would have bowled first.”
