Hyderabad: May 4, 2013
Sunrisers will be pleased with their effort, but need a little improvement in the middle-order. The Delhi Daredevils failed to put up a fight and this has almost thrown them out of the tournament.
SRH 81/4 | Overs 13.5 | Vihari 11*, Sammy 18*
A comprehensive win for the home side. Hanuma Vihari gets an inside edge onto the pads and the ball goes for a boundary on the second ball off Umesh Yadav. He gets another on the fifth to seal a six-wicket win for the Sunrisers.
Darren Sammy clears the long-off boundary for a six as Sunrisers close in for a big win. Just nine runs needed off 42 balls.
Kumar Sangakkara’s drastic run in the IPL 2013 tournament continues as he is out for yet another small score. The SRH captain tries to clear the long-off boundary but he is caught by Umesh Yadav off Johan Botha. On the fourth ball of the over, Delhi make a strong appeal against Hanuma Vihari for caught behind but the umpire signals a wide as the ball was going down the leg side.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are slowly but steadily getting there. Only 22 more runs needed from nine overs.
Three more runs added to their total as Sunrisers reach 55 for three after 10 overs. They need a further 26 runs to win from 60 balls.
David Warner drops a difficult catch off Jeevan Mendis and Darren Sammy continues. Sunrisers batsman scramble for six runs in the ninth over of the game.
SRH 46/3 | Overs 8 | Sangakkara 1*, Sammy 3*
Shahbaz Nadeem keeps it tight in his first over of the game as Sunrisers batsmen can manage only three runs off it. SRH need a further 35 runs from 72 balls.
SRH 43/3 | Overs 7 | Sangakkara 0*, Sammy 1* OUT! Parthiv 14(18)
Parthiv Patel is out for 14! The left-hander is stumped by wicketkeeper Kedar Jadhav and Delhi will be aiming to put pressure after getting early wickets.
Another wicket for the Daredevils! Ashish Reddy is caught behind off Ashish Nehra for five. Sunrisers add eight runs from that over.
Shikhar Dhawan it out leg before. The left-hander tries to hit towards the leg region as he moves back in the crease, but misses the ball completely and is hit in front of the wickets. Johan Botha gets a big wicket.
Shikhar Dhawan is leading Sunriser’s charge towards an easy win. Absolutely no fight from the Delhi Daredevils’ bowlers. Umesh Yadav is slapped for a boundary towards the cover region on the last ball as another seven runs have been added.
Dhawan hits a boundary on the penultimate ball of the over towards the point region to mark another good over for the Sunrisers.
Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel get a boundary each off Umesh Yadav to collect 11 runs from the second over. The Hyderabad batsmen are off to a positive start in chase of paltry 81.
Shikhar Dhawan hits it down the track for a boundary on the fourth ball off Irfan Pathan. Sunrisers openers scramble for two more runs to make it six from the over.
DD 80/10 | Overs 19.1 | Yadav 2* OUT! Nehra 0(1)
All over for the Daredevils with the bat. Ashish Nehra is cleaned up on a yorker by Perera, who takes his second wicket in the game. Delhi have been bowled out for just 80 runs.
Dale Steyn gets his second wicket in the game as Irfan Pathan gets an inside edge and the off-stump is down. Pathan goes back after 19-ball 13.
Shahbaz Nadeem is run out for a duck and Delhi lose another.
DD 74/7 | Overs 17 | Nadeem 0*, Pathan 9* OUT! Botha 1(7)
Johan Botha’s forgettable outing in IPL 2013 continues as he departs once again without any contribution. Botha tries to pull Thisara Perera but gets a leading edge and Parthiv Patel does the rest.
Amith Mishra ends his spell in the game with only two runs off the last over. He has been very impressive of late.
Jeevan Mendis departs! The Sri Lankan all-rounder is caught by Ishant Sharma at the long-on boundary and Darren Sammy bags his second wicket in the match.
Amit Mishra’s third over of the game gets five runs to the Daredevils. Irfan Pathan almost runs himself out on the last ball while taking a second run, but makes it on time.
And here goes another! Kedar Jadhav gives a return catch to Karan Sharma and half of the Delhi side is back on the bench at a total of 57.
Delhi Daredevils have been extremely poor this evening. No good effort with the bat and the batsmen have put up no fight at all. David Warner finally departs as he dances down the track to smash Amit Mishra, is beaten by the turn and Parthiv Patel does the rest.
Dale Steyn cleans up Unmukt Chand! The Delhi batsman moves to make room to play a big stroke but misses out completely and the off-stump is knocked off.
Amit Mishra starts off with a wicket..almost! A tight over that fetched just five runs would have ended with a wicket as David Warner top-edged a delivery only for Hanuma Vihari to let the ball go through his hands. Warner lives on. Could this cost the SRH dearly?
Karan Sharma, the Hyderabad spinner, too starts on a good note as Delhi batsmen could manage only four runs off his first over.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are all over the Delhi Daredevils. Virender Sehwag is cleaned up by Darren Sammy on the first ball of the eighth over as Delhi have slipped further. Sehwag consumed as many as 17 balls during his stay at the crease. In-form David Warner walks in.
Chand gets a boundary on the last ball as Delhi collect six runs from the seventh over of the game.
Ishant Sharma has been mighty impressive today. Delhi batsmen are struggling even to rotate the strike, leave aside the talk about increasing the scoring rate.
Impressive start by Thisara Perera as the Delhi batsmen could manage only three runs off his first over. It’s been a slow start by the Daredevils and they’d be looking for some quick runs now.
Ishant Sharma traps Mahela Jayawardene lbw as Delhi lose their first wicket. Not convincing enough as Jayawardene had moved across the stumps and the ball hit him outside the line of off-stump. But umpire Asad Rauf thought otherwise. Unmukt Chand starts off with a cracking shot for a boundary towards the point region.
Mahela Jayawardene lifts over the deep square leg boundary on the first ball for a six to put pressure on Dale Steyn, who bounces back in the remainder of the over troubling the Delhi batsmen with his pace and bounce.
Ishant Sharma bowls a maiden over as Virender Sehwag struggles to find a run off him.
Very impressive start by the Hyderabad pacer Dale Steyn, who tests Mahela Jayawardene on all six balls of the over. Steyn gets an edge as well, but the ball runs away to the boundary between the wicketkeeper and the first slip.
The home side have made one change with Parthiv Patel coming in place of Akshath Reddy while Delhi have brought in Jeevan Mendis for Ben Rohrer who flew back to Australia to get married.
