The schedule of Indian Premier League’s sixth season started on April 3, 2013 at the Salt lake Stadium in Kolkata. Four play-off matches, including the final, will be played taking the total to 76 matches.
In the play-offs, the top two teams in the points table from the league will face each other in the Qualifier 1 play-off match and the winner will qualify for the final.
The teams that finish third and fourth in the points table will play each other in the Eliminator play-off match. The winner will then play against the loser of Qualifier 1 in the Qualifier 2 play-off.
The opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was held with what promised to be a glitzy opening ceremony featuring Bollywood stars and international rapper Pitbull.
Flying drummers, Chinese percussionists, fireworks, and some of the biggest film stars in the country, including Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, performed at the ceremony at the Salt Lake Stadium.
Never before in cricket has any private tournament been as successful as the IPL and it was a rollicking affair once again when the nine franchises locked horns for the coveted title.
The Shahrukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions, have earned the right to host the opening ceremony.
