IPL 2013 spot-fixing and betting scandal: BCCI files affidavit in Supreme Court, defends N Srinivasan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed an affidavit defending its president N Srinivasan, who was cleared by the Supreme Court on spot-fixing charges in the in the wake of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 spot-fixing and betting scandal.

According to CNN IBN, the BCCI on Friday defended its officials for not reprimanding an Indian cricketer, who violated the code of conduct. The BCCI told the court that the violation was minor and the player was verbally reminded.

Earlier, members said on Tuesday that there is ‘no taint’ on N Srinivasan, who was forced to step down from his post of the board’s president

The members of the cricket board expressed their thoughts on the matter after going through the Justice Mudgal Committee report, during their all-powerful Working Committee meeting in Chennai on Tuesday.

Justice Mudgal Committee, which was entrusted with the investigation of the Indian Premier League 2013 (IPL) spot-fixing scandal has told Supreme Court (SC) that ICC chairman and former BCCI chief N Srinivasan is not involved in any kind of match-fixing activity, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI).

Earlier on November 14, during the hearing in the SC, it was revealed that Srinivasan, along with his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, IPL COO Sundar Raman and Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra were four of the 13 members in the envelope given to the SC by Mudgal committee
