Irfan Pathan said he is excited to play in the in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, which is being mentored by veterans like Tom Moody, Krishnamachari Srikkanth and VVS Laxman.

“I am very excited. The team atmosphere looks really good, the people around, the support staff, the coach Tom Moody, the mentors in VVS Laxman, Krishnamachari Srikkanth,” Irfan told PTI in Hyderabad.

“The guys look focused and relaxed as well. I look forward to that kind of environment. If that happens, you perform better.”

Asked what are the areas he is focusing on to come up with a good performance, Irfan said: “Every area. Bowling with the new ball, bowling in the death overs, bowling in the middle-overs as well as batting.

“The more matches I play, the better I am going to get with my rhythm.”

He is also looking to gain something from Dale Steyn. “He is world’s number one bowler in any format. His energy is a treat to watch. He is consistently performing well and there is something special in him. I will definitely try and pick his brain and try to get something out of it,” he said.
