Kevin Pietersen, the Delhi Daredevils (DD) captain hopes to be ready in time for the Daredevils’ next game in the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2014. Pietersen has missed Delhi’s first three games as a result of a finger injury, which he sustained during practice with his county Surrey. In his place, Dinesh Karthik has captained and they have only won one match, which was against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Speaking to the official website of the IPL, Pietersen said, “I’m going to hopefully be back in the next game after I train well for a week. I have trained a couple of days, but it hasn’t been an ideal start going into this tournament.”
“I had good practice for a couple of weeks in London, but then hurt myself and have had three weeks off. I just need another good week of training and then I’ll be back,” Pietersen said about the injury.
Pietersen was unceremoniously sacked from the England team early this year after the Ashes 2013-14 debacle Down Under. That allowed Pietersen to commit himself to the IPL for the full season and Delhi managed to get him back at the auction. They would certainly need his presence on the field and would be praying for his fitness.
