Morne Morkel is looking forward to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 after he had a tough time during the ICC World T20 2014. Morkel had a terrible outing against New Zealand and was then dropped for the rest of the matches with Wayne Parnell and Beuran Hendricks playing ahead of him. His stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders gives him a chance to bounce back.
Speaking to Gulf News, Morkel said, “I felt good going into the World Cup. I bowled well against Australia and I had one bad game against New Zealand, which happens in T20 cricket. After that, I wasn’t selected so, in my mind, I’m quite mentally fresh and ready to play.”
“Since I didn’t play in the rest of the tournament, I would say it was saving grace as I’m ready to play for KKR. It would be nice for me to prove a point for people back home. So, I’m excited about the challenge,” Morkel said.
Morkel was bought by Kolkata during the IPL 2014 auctions in Bangalore. For the last three seasons he was with the Delhi Daredevils. In the IPL 2012, he had won the Purple Cap with the most wickets to his credit. Before Delhi Daredevils, he was with the Rajasthan Royals.
