West Indies cricket received a major boost for it’s players after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) granted them permission to play in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL Chairman, Ranjib Biswal confirmed on Tuesday that the recent issue of the West Indies cancelling the India tour won’t have any effect on the West Indies players’participation in the IPL for the upcoming season.

BCCI was upset with the fact that West Indies had withdrawn from the ongoing tour of India owing to a dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) which resulted in BCCI putting all bilateral series against West Indies on hold. However, Mr. Biswal confirmed that the issue won’t have any effect on the participation of the players in the IPL, reports PTI.

“West Indies players will be playing in IPL,” said Mr. Biswal.

“IPL-8 will begin from April 9 next year and the franchises will get 11 days for preparation of the T20 league after the end of the World Cup,” said a member of the IPL governing council.

It was also reported that the franchise had also asked for a compensation regarding the teams participation in the IPL during the last season for the UAE leg.

“The franchises have asked to compensate for the 15 days of IPL 7 held outside the country. The BCCI auditors will decide on the amount of compensation,” he added.

However, an official aanouncement regarding the participation of the West Indies player in the IPL would be made later, said Anurag Thakur, president of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA).
