The BCCI secretary also added – “How many swimming pools of 5 star hotels have been shut? Have people stopped watering their lawns?” – as quoted by ANI. The venues in question, Wankhede and the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium serves as the home ground to Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants respectively. While the outrage about shifting the matches from these two venues have brought the attention of Supreme Court, the inaugural match was allowed to be held at Wankhede. During yesterday’s hearing BCCI counsel Rafiq Dada had informed the bench that the board had tied up with Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) for the same. Rafiq Dada had said – ” In this case, instead of discharging treated sewage water into the sea, we are using it in the stadiums,”.

Meanwhile, BCCI are trying all the measures to make sure matches aren’t shifted. Earlier, they promised to use the treated sewage waters for the two venue matches. The BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur also reported to SC of a huge loss if the matches are shifted from these two venues. The likes of MS Dhoni also spoke out against shifting, saying it is not the solution to the problem.
