With the end of a fabulous season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged champions beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 8 runs to clinch their maiden IPL crown. After their win, Twitter was flooded with tweets congratulating the Hyderabad franchise and Pakistan’s Umar Akmal sparked a hilarious tweet wherein he wished David Warner and his team on winning the ‘Pakistan Super League’ (PSL) instead of IPL. He became the butt of all jokes as comments sprung on his mistake. Realising his folly, he corrected his comment and made it clear that it was by mistake but by then he was targeted by his followers. Currently on the sidelines, Umar Akmal is not having the best of times both on and off the field. He has been overlooked by the Pakistan selectors for their training camp before the England tour this summer and his future with the team looks in jeopardy as he has had a bad image because of his actions and behavior.

Umar Akmal played in Pakistan’s inaugural Pakistan Super League, of which he mentioned in his tweet, and was also the highest run scorer but did not do any justice for his nation in the ICC World T20, 2016 hosted by arch-rivals, India which was eventually won by West Indies. He will not only have to regain form for a place back in the national squad but will also have to work on his discipline to play for a longer period for Pakistan.
