Yuvraj Singh (INR 16 crores by Delhi Daredevils in 2015) (INR 14 crores by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014): The all-rounder holds the title of the most expensive player in the history of IPL auctions. Yuvraj was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a whooping sum of INR 16 crores in the 2015 edition. However, Yuvraj did not deliver anything exceptional in that season, managing a highest score of 57.

The batsman again managed to hold the spot as one of the most expensive player during the 2014 edition of the auctions, where he joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Singh had a smashing hit season with the highlight being his performance against the Delhi Daredevils where he delivered a magnificent 68 not out in a stunning six hitting exhibition.

Ben Stokes (INR 14.5 crores by Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017): The biggest purchase of the upcoming season is the England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes. Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) purchased him for a massive INR 14.5 crores. He has been purchased for a sum 7 times more than his base price, with some serious bidding between the various teams. However, RPS’ late but strong entry in the bidding changed the course.

Dinesh Karthik (INR 12.5 crores by Delhi Daredevils in 2014): Dinesh Karthik made it in the list with Delhi Daredevil’s 12.5 crores. Karthik was made the vice captain of the team and the wicketkeeper batsman with his consistent performances gave decent innings that year.

Gautam Gambhir (INR 11.4 crores by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011): Gambhir had joined the Kolkata Knight Riders camp in the year 2011 after he was snapped for a mind blogging sum of 11.4 crores and has stayed with them ever since. In the season, he had been a consistent player and led the team to victory, as captain twice in the year 2012 and 2014.

Ravindra Jadeja (INR 9.72 crores by Chennai Super Kings in 2012): All rounder, Ravindra Jadeja was bagged by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), by the winning bid of INR 9.72 approx  for the fifth year of IPL. He went on to prove his price tag after delivering a strong defense in the match against Deccan Chargers and became ‘Man of the Match’. Jadeja went on to be retained by CSK again in the 2014 edition for the same winning bid.
