Mumbai Indians (MI) edged out Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 6 wickets in Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With this emphatic win, Mumbai qualify for the final against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, on Sunday. However, KKR tried their best to put up a competitive total on a slow and low track. Ishank Jaggi and Suryakumar Yadav added 56 runs for the sixth wicket, taking KKR out of the woods. All the same, KKR failed to apply themselves against leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who was awarded Man of the Match for his stunning 4 for 16. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), IPL 10, Qualifier 2

Speaking after the loss, KKR captain Gautam Gambhir said that they fell short of 30 runs. “We discussed after the last game that we couldn’t get 160-170, we needed 140. Lost too many wickets early on. 107 is not a great score unless you can get the opposition all out. We had to be up for it. Had we had wickets, we could have targetted one or two bowlers. Proud, because we put everything we could. We had two opportunities, we missed it. We could have had two cracks at the top two. The boys were professional through the season.” FULL UPDATES FROM QUALIFIER 2

KKR had won the title twice, in 2012 and 2014. Had they emerged victorious in today’s contest, it would have been their third final. However, Gambhir admitted that Mumbai were a better side. “Mumbai was the better side today. But if you look back at things we could have finished in the top two. We had two opportunities. Once against Kings XI, we messed it and then again against Mumbai Indians. We made that kind of mistakes and a bad game like today haunted us bad. Just wish both Mumbai and Pune, may the best team win.”
