Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir has backsd his side to chase down any total set by the opposition team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 edition. Terming his team as a ‘good chasing side’, Gambhir was satisfied with his team’s efforts as they pulled off an easy victory over Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in their own den, in match 30 of IPL 10. With 6 victories from 8 games, KKR are at the top of the points table and Gambhir has taken over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)’s opener Hashim Amla to retain the Orange Cap as well. The left-hander has amassed 305 runs from 8 games, including three half-centuries. Full Cricket Scorecard, Rising Pune Supergiant vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2017, Match 30
Opting to bowl, Gambhir stated, “I thought we are a good chasing side and we are confident of chasing anything. Restricting the opposition to 180 was terrific and the credit needs to go to the bowlers. It’s good to keep contributing, I keep saying Orange Cap does not matter if you don’t have points as a team. But it is good to score runs and when you are, score as much as you can.”
Gambhir (62 off 46 balls) shared a terrific 158-run stand with Robin Uthappa for the second wicket and took the game away from the opposition. In the end, KKR won the game with 11 balls to spare. KKR will be next seen in action on Friday, April 28, when they take on the Zaheer Khan-led Delhi Daredevils (DD).
