The star-studded 10th season of the league will give fans a first-hand experience of the VIVO IPL Trophy with its multi-city Trophy Tour. Fans can also experience a stadium-like environment at IPL fan parks across 38 cities. The BCCI and the IPL Governing Council, earlier this week, announced the month and half long schedule of the 10th edition of the league. Laxman exclusive: IPL auctions are all about targeting specific skill-sets

The opening match will be played between the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and powerhouse Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad. SRH, being the defending champions, will also play host to the final of this edition on May 21, and will also host both, the opening and closing ceremonies as well. The tournament is once again scheduled to have a total of eight franchise teams. The same format will be followed as in the previous editions, where each team plays every team at least twice on the home and away leg format.

A total of 56 league matches would be played, while four play-off matches would be played, including the final. The top four teams from the league stage qualify for the play-offs stage. The matches will be played across 10 venues in the country in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Pune and Rajkot.
