Ahead of the 21st match of 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad, SRH coach Tom Moody gave some interesting insights about his team. Moody, who guided SRH to IPL title last year, recently made a statement that David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan make the best opening pair in this season of IPL. He also spoke about Afghanistan sensation Rashid Khan and said that he is still a mystery bowler for batsmen in the tournament. Moody’s thoughts were shared by SRH’s official Twitter handle in the form of a short video. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD, SRH vs DD – Match 21

When asked about how important are the powerplay overs, Moody said, “The most important aspect of powerplay is keeping wickets in hand. We see so often that teams lose two or more wickets during the powerplay and then tend to struggle to chase down the total or set a competitive total. I think in last couple of years, Warner – Dhawan combination is probably the best opening pair among all the teams. It is important to have that partnership upfront.”

Warner and Dhawan are among the most successful pairs in the tournament. The duo has scored 1,914 runs in IPL at 47.85, including four hundred-run stands and 12 half-century stands. They are at 3rd spot in the list of most successful pairs in the tournament after Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle (2,697 runs at 53.94) and Kohli and AB de Villiers (2,191 at 44.71).

Further, when asked about Rashid getting picked by batsmen, Moody said that he is yet a mystery bowler for the batsmen. “I think one player played him exceptionally well. And that happens in cricket. Someone is allowed to bat well. I still feel that he is a huge man of mystery. I think probably it is a good question to batsmen who haven’t faced him yet. I think they know they are in for a challenge because he is unique and has been very affective,” added Moody. Catch him speak here:

Moody also expressed his opinion over DD players and said that he is looking forward to Chris Morris and Rishabh Pant as both are match-winning players for their team.
