The mystery around flying saucers can be debated but the cricketing world witnessed something called ‘flying Samson.’ Indian Premier League (IPL) has raised the bar of fielding. The tournament has witnessed several instances of incredible pieces of fielding and Sanju Samson just added one to the list. He almost took a blinder for Delhi Daredevils, in Match 18 of IPL 2017 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Playing at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, DD needed to save every possible run as the match inched towards a tense finish on Monday.

It was Manish Pandey, who was set at the crease and picked a full-length delivery from outside off-stump over long on. It looked like a certain six till Samson in the deep attempted a diving stop. He was in the air and was about to fall inside the boundary with the ball in hand when he decided to throw the ball in to save the runs. His efforts earned his applause from the commentators as well as the bowler Chris Morris and teammates.

The video of the superb effort was shared via IPL’s official Facebook account with the caption, “VIDEO: Superman Samson flies on-field to save a SIX… Athleticism epitome as Delhi Daredevils Sanju Samson’s alertness on the boundary ropes saves a certain maximum”.

However, DD went on to lose the match in the last over by 4 wickets to KKR. Pandey and Yusuf Pathan contributed majorly towards the victory that took them to the top of IPL 2017 points table. For DD, Samson, Rishabh Pant impressed with the bat and Zaheer Khan was the top bowler.
