Ever since the conclusion of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 in May, fans of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have started to rejoice the return of their beloved franchise. CSK will again be part of the IPL bandwagon from 2018, when their 2-year suspension ends following spot-fixing scandal. As seen on social fans and CSK Twitter handle have somewhat made it clear that who their prime target will be –MS DHONI–. Dhoni successfully led-CSK to two IPL and Champions League T20 (now defunct) titles during his tenure.

With fresh auctions slated for next IPL 11, CSK management are gearing for retaining their core side from 2015 and before. In an interview to Times Of India, K George John, CSKCL told “If we are given an option of retaining a player, it will definitely be Dhoni. We haven’t yet discussed with Dhoni as his contract with Pune Supergiant ends later this year. However, we will speak to him in the future.”

CSK will also be aiming to rope in Steven Fleming as head coach along with other support staff (Steve Nixon, Andy Bichel and Lakshi Narayanan) that left in 2015. John further stated, “For us, loyalty is very important. That’s been our strength over the years. Though we haven’t yet taken a final decision on the support staff, we are definitely thinking of retaining the old support staff.”

CSK will star off their social media activities from today itself, re-kindling Dhoni’s best knocks and top moments from their IPL tourney. “It’s a new start. We don’t want to go back. Our passion is cricket and we will stick to it. On Friday, we will have two activities on social media to mark the team’s return. ‘Super Moments’ will revisit our title wins, Ashwin-Gayle saga and a few others. Then we will ask fans to send their Super Selfie with CSK stars and with yellow jersey,” explained John.
