Dinesh Karthik was all over news and social media for his heroics in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 final when he smashed the last ball for six winning the title for India. Karthik would be seen in action soon in the Indian Premier League 2018 captaining Kolkata Knight Riders. According to reports in The Hindu, Karthik revealed that he always wanted play for Chennai Super Kings.

“Heart of hearts, I thought I’ll be playing for CSK from the very first year. It’s been 10 years and it has never happened. The dream is getting smaller by the day. I don’t know if I’ll ever play for CSK,”he said

Karthik who was born in Chennai and also represents Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket desperately wanted to be a part of the CSK side. However, with Gautam Gambhir returning back to Delhi Daredevils, Karthik now has the big responsibility of leading a two-time champions KKR. He calls the job a big honour.

“I have been born and brought up in the city and would have loved to play for the Chennai team. But today, I have got the opportunity to lead an IPL team which is a big honour and I’d like to do justice to that. I think Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai have very loyal fans,” he said.

Since the inaugural season of IPL Karthik has participated in all the seasons representing different teams like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Punjab and Gujarat. KKR start their IPL campaign against RCB on April 8 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
