Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH) pulled off their highest chase as they got to 188 against Delhi Daredevils (DD) in Match 42 of Vivo IPL 2018. SRH became the first team to qualify for the Playoffs. Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan eased to a 173-run match-winning partnership to win it for SRH by 9 wickets, with 7 balls to spare. Harshal Patel got Alex Hales early, but the DD bowlers failed to create any overall pressure. Williamson spoke about the wicket in the post-match presentation: ”We wanted to go out and keep playing as a team. And we have been playing on tough surfaces, so it was nice to go out and execute our batting plans. It’s always tough chasing here. [At the half-way stage] we thought it was a tough surface, keeping a touch low perhaps.”

He also hailed the incredible onslaught of Rishabh Pant: ”Pant played a special knock. They had a score above par. Dew played a little part, yes. Wicket was a good surface towards the end. A bit of partnership at the top, which gave us the momentum. We were batting with intent when chasing 180.”

Dhawan, not at his best till now, scored 92* off 50 with 9 fours are 4 sixes. Williamson was all in praise: ”We were batting with intent when chasing 180. I think when you are rotating the strike the boundaries start to come. It was nice to get that partnership. Shikhar was outstanding; certainly put them on the back foot.”
