Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have once again successfully defended a low score in the Vivo IPL 2018 as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 5 runs. They could only manage to put up 146 on board before getting all-out in the first innings. Kane Williamson, the most consistent batsmen for them this season scored 56 off 39 with partners changing at the other end to take SRH to a competitive total (according to their standards). The bowlers, like always took the responsibility and restricted RCB for chasing it down.

In the post match presentation Williamson admitted that they were aiming for 150 on a tough surface and even talked about the sloppy fielding. “We’re playing on some tough surfaces. We were aiming for 150, and we weren’t far away. Our fielding was probably a bit sloppy. Could have operated better. At the same time, good to come away with the win.”

He also appreciated the bowling performance by Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he only gave away six runs in t he final over defending 12.

“Some experienced campaigners stepping up at the right time. That last over comes to mind. Bhuvi was world class. They’ve both done it (Bhuvi and Kaul) extremely well for a long time. It’s best we can trying to adapt to the surfaces. We’re seeing off-paced deliveries used and then yorkers to break things up. Guys held their nerves at key moments which went a long way in us scraping across the line. Bat and ball, there are things we certainly want to touch on moving forward as a team.”

With the win SRH have remained on the top spot with 16 points and have almost made their way to playoffs.
