Kuldeep Yadav was not having the best of the tournament. But Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team management stuck with the young Chinaman bowler and in a do-or-die tie, Kuldeep delivered the goods. In the Match 49 of the tournament, Rajasthan Royals (RR) were off to a great start, smashing 49 in just 3 overs. Kuldeep’s guile saw him get the better of Jos Buttler, Ajinkya Rahane, Stuart Binny and Ben Stokes as he finished with 4 for 20 in his 4 overs, and ensured RR were bowled out for 143.

KKR completed the win with 6 wickets in hand with skipper Dinesh Karthik remaining not out for a well made 41. The win took KKR to 14 points and a step closer to qualifying for the playoffs. Karthik hailed Man of the Match Kuldeep in the post-match presentation and called him one of the best Chinaman bowlers in the world.

“Kuldeep is an international quality bowler and is one of the best Chinaman bowlers in the world. He is sometimes so confident that he ends up slacking off and giving out one easy ball. But he is very hardworking, always in the gym and if I can keep him consistent it is enough,” said Karthik.

Karthik also hailed KKR’s ability to not give up despite the RR’s brisk start.

“I think they started off brilliantly; especially Buttler and Tripathi played really well. But it also shows our character where we just didn’t give up. When we got the chance we just didn’t let it go. Winning one, losing the next and then coming back is a part of the IPL. We just try and put in team bonding sessions, keep interacting and look to put a smile one everyone’s face to keep them motivated,” said Karthik.

KKR are at the No.3 spot and they play their final game against table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Hyderabad on Saturday.
